The best man ghosted me six years ago after kissing me, and now I have to plan every wedding event under the sun with him.

Nate Stiles is the definition of serious. Furrowed brow? Check. Rain cloud personality? Double check.

I shouldn’t be thinking about the fact that our kiss was the best one of my life right now. I should be planning the bachelorette party of the millennium.

I shouldn’t be wondering when Nate became such a good dancer after we got roped into salsa lessons with the happy couple. I should be mentally ticking off boxes on my bridal checklists.

I shouldn’t be wondering what it would be like if I didn’t hate Nate Stiles. I should be holding strong against a man who doesn’t believe in love.

My name is Essie Lovelock. I am a reformed love-obsessed fairytale fanatic, and I’m determined to be the best maid of honor my best friend could ever have.

And I am absolutely not going to fall for the best man.

*Nate and Essie's standalone summer holiday romance. This title can be listened to as a complete standalone.

Finally...we get Essie and Nate's storyline!!! We have been teased throughout the Toronto Terror series of their romance and it was well worth the wait!

Essie, romance obsessed, forever-optimistic friend-group MVP and Maid of Honor goes toe to toe with her biggest obstacle- Nate Stiles: the grumpy, emotionally scarred Best Man who ghosted her six years prior after one unforgettable kiss. Now they’re charged with organizing their mutual friends’ destination wedding—sparring at every turn, forced into proximity, and battling unresolved feelings along the way.

Their banter crackles with tension—rivals to reluctant partners, gradually softening into a second‑chance romance filled with sarcastic humor, mutual growth, and undeniable heat.

what a sweet story I had to title it that because it ends on such a sweet note. though I can tell you that the story itself can be anything but sweet. there's lots of very emotional and troubling things that happen in this story which make it of course a great story. the female character is absolutely adorable she's sweet she's helpful but yet has a few Hang-Ups on her own about always being beautiful if that can be a hang up which I do believe it can. and the male character well he definitely has mommy issues. and they play out throughout the story. Savannah Peachwood did an excellent job with the female character. and Teddy Hamilton well he did an excellent job at playing Nate being Broody when he had to be broody. I feel like the story needed to go longer almost it really wasn't it was plenty it's just that I wanted more I want more of the other characters I want more of this whole group of friends I absolutely adore these stories and can't wait for the next book.

This was such a fun listen! The story is so good on it's own, but when you add in the cameos from so so many of Helena's previous couples, you can't help but be giddy after listening to this! Nate and Essie. And their messy secret history. Add in that her best friend is marrying his brother, and it gets even more complicated. All of those Maid of Honor and Best Man duties make spending time together a necessity for the two of them. Their off-the-charts chemistry is bound to break through at some point, right? Wedding planning, a dress fitting, a couples shower, a Vegas trip, and all of the other little nights in between are a big part of the inevitability of these two crashing into each other. The only question is, will it be a mess or will they find exactly what they didn't think they'd ever find, in the last place they expected it? Just do yourself a favor and start listening to this wonderfully spicy romance as soon as you can!

This story was so good! I love Nate and Essie! We were introduced to both characters in If You Hate Me and then we get a little glimpse of them in Chase Lovett Wants Me. So with that said I felt like female narrator did not capture Essie or Rix. She was too sickly sweet. I think I’m just jaded by C.J. Bloom’s version of these characters. So I really didn’t like it. Although, Teddy Hamilton was great per usual.

Loved the story not the narrator

I wasn’t a fan of how the female narrator made Essie or Rix sound but she was great with everyone having their own voice.

And this is how it’s done. The author revisited with past characters but never lost focus on this book’s couple. A couple I’m completely smitten with for how fun and sweet and real they got while falling for each other. I enjoyed the full story, advancing the series arc, while still giving fans a reunion. I’m officially an even bigger fan of Helena Hunting. Puck on!

This book is about Tristan’s brother, Nate and Rix’s best friend Essie (If You Hate Me)

This book focuses on Nate and Essie being the Best Man and Maid of Honor for T & R’s wedding.

Nate and Essie have a small relationship history that fizzled before it became anything but it fizzled in a bad way.

They proceed to enter into a situationship that ends with them falling head over heels for each other.

They have some emotional obstacles they have to overcome to get to their happy place together and they put in the work.

They make a beautiful couple as they are opposite in some ways, similar in some ways and just click really well.

I absolutely loved how Essie is described as traditionally beautiful but he made sure to stress to her that when he called her beautiful it was her personality than her looks that made her beautiful to him.

This story was brought to life Duet Style by Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton. Two of my favorites ❤️

I Could Be Yours by Helena Hunting is the latest installment in her Toronto Terror series and features Nate and Essie.

Nate is Tristan Stiles of the Toronto Terror’s brother and Essie Lovelock is Tristan’s fiancée Rix’s best friend. (She’s also the sister of Cammie Lovelock from Chase Lovett Wants Me in the Tilton University Series)

Nate and Essie shared a moment six years ago and Nate then blew Essie off and neither of them has forgotten it. Thrust together for best man/maid of honor duties for Tristan and Rix’s wedding, they are forced to confront the elephant in the room. Nate is a big grump, and Essie is a ray of happiness and sunshine.

While he doesn’t want to be attracted to Essie because to him, nothing good can come from love, he can’t help it. Essie can’t get over Nate or the attraction she hates to feel for him.

Makeup artist, Essie, believes in happiness, but seems to think it will never happen to her. She’s all about the fairytale, but believes it will never happen to her. (It’s so fun that she is all about princesses and her sister is the elf lover)

The character development and growth in this book – especially for Nate is so nice. Ms. Hunting makes sure to put him through the necessary therapy to get where he needs to be to be a good partner to Essie and to have long-term happiness for himself. So many books just go from acknowledging issues to miraculously being “cured.”
While this is part of a series, I think it would be okay to read as stand-alone, but you will enjoy it so much more, and get the joy of knowing the other books and the characters that are very much part of this story.

The narrators for this book, Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton do an incredible job telling the story - they each embody their characters and the secondary characters they are portraying and I felt they simply WERE whomever they were portraying. It's hard to listen to books where the narrators are simply just reading the words, and this is the opposite. They bring the story to life and made me feel as if I were with them.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Every book by Helena Hunting in a series is like coming home to friends. Every book is a keeper.

I've got this to keep available whenever I want a re-read - in ebook, paperback, and this audiobook. Yep, this series is THAT good.

I read the book first and then listened. The story is amazing in both formats. This audio was perfect. The narrators were great and portrayed the characters authentically.
