Narration matters

This was an awesome book. However I will read it next time. Why do authors think that they have to use both male and female narrators? This book would’ve gotten a perfect 5star rating if they had used just Jacob morgan. That guy can carry a book all on his own without a female narrator. Let’s talk about the female narrator. She ruined this book. She was so bad. She can’t do a male part. She wasn’t bad...she was horrible. Please authors if you read this review believe me when I say some narrators will destroy a great book. The writing was beautiful and awesome. I’m sad you used Lauren Sweet. Next time go totally with Jacob Morgan. Thank you for listening to my rant. I’m just so tired of bad narration. P.s. Jacob Morgan is the best of the best!!!!!!!

This is a dark gritty intricate tale of an innocent sixteen year old society Princess unhappy with the debilitating rules and bleak outlook of her life, who accidentally witnesses a bloody scene.. gets kidnapped and is very dramatically faced with death. And then, over a few further intense push ‘n pull back-and-forth short encounters with her sexy but cold kidnapper spanning two years, she gets caught up in, and consumed by, the magnetic misunderstood very bad-boy’s life of vengeance. Seeing beyond his tough, complex, badly broken, dark anti-hero exterior, finding out his chilling heartbreaking truths, loving his possessive loyal behaviour towards her.. and eventually rescuing him from himself and delivering peace.

Brooke and Stone were from two very different worlds.. Brooke was a sweet naive virgin, a dutiful daughter, had always been loved and had a privileged lifestyle. But Stone had been a throw-away child who’d been picked-up by sex traffickers, he’d spent his childhood in a dark dank basement along with his band of ‘brothers’.. all swearing fealty, freedom and revenge on every single one of their abusers. Worth a credit? Well, I initially thought damn it was going to be a no when I heard the heroine was a sweet sixteen yr old virgin living at home.. and the moody hero was twenty-six. However I carried on because the suspenseful story was just so gripping, intriguing, dark, raw, dramatic, dangerous, addictive, different and was fuelled by combustible chemistry. And I easily got caught-up in the angsty romance, the well-written layered edgy storyline, the well-planned thrills and chills, the well-placed sex scenes, the character growth, the redemption and, of course, the sworn sweet revenge. So yes, IMO, creditworthy. The dual POV narration by Jacob Morgan was a five star stunning performance.. and Lauren Sweet’s was a pretty-good four.

I love it when a book comes to life. I read this book while back and loved it. Now hearing it makes it even better. I'm glad I didn't listen to the reviews about narration Lauren Sweet is not the best but she isn't horrible. And Jacob Morgan well do I need to even say anything swoon!!!! 💕💕💕💕

Addictive characters and story.

Hostage by Skye Warren and Annika Martin is the follow up to Prisoner and it did not disappoint!!! Stone, is hard core and will do anything to get vengeance for his boys even if it means losing himself forever. He never cares about anyone except his boys until Brooke, she changed him. It was a slow change, but a change none the less. First she was his hostage and then she was his forever love.

I do have to say that some of the story is definitely far fetched like falling in love with a man you see murder someone in cold blood, or being almost drowned by this man. As well as all the boys being free and clear from all
They had done but I loved this world that was created in this story where hard core,broken men will take justice in their own hands against men who would prey on little boys. As far fetched as the story is I truly enjoyed every minute of it.

Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet were incredible in their narrative and made this story even more gripping and addictive.

Brilliant

When Skye Warren and Annika Martin write together it’s just straight fire. It’s forbidden, it’s sexy, it’s delicious.

Stone is a survivor and he’s out for blood. He is the darkness. Brooke is all the purity and lightness Stone is afraid to corrupt. But Brooke is tougher than she gives herself credit for. And together they are one hell of a story.

The narration is top notch. It’s a fantastic listen.

Amazing narration

After listening to the first book in the series I was excited to jump right into this one, thinking that it picked up where book one ended. But this book focuses more on Stone and I was a little confused about the timeline for the first few chapters. Things become clear pretty quick and I realized that Stone's story is running parallel to Greyson's and then catches up to where we left off. I thought that this book did a great job tying up all of the loose ends from book 1 as well as finding Stone his HEA.
Both narrators did an incredible job (I could listen to Jacob Morgan all day) bring the characters to life.

Little Bird

This book was amazing, dark, sexy, and wonderful. I loved it! Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet were perfect with narration. I love how Stone loved his Little Bird. Even though he was the big, bad stone...he was sweet and caring with her.

Very Exciting and Well Worth the Read/Listen

I received this audiobook free, as an Audiobook Obsession Reviewer, for an honest review. The story that Annika Martin and Skye Warren gave us, the reader/listener, was exciting and nail bitting. The quality of their writing is phenomenal. They kept me on the edge of my seat and my attention was riveted from beginning to end. The background story of the boys to men is so scary because you know it could and probably does happen. The story starting with a 16 year old girl jumps to where she is a woman quickly, which was brilliant. The transition was very smooth. The narrators were awesome. You don't need to listen/read the first book in this series to enjoy this one. Although the first one is excellent as well.

Engrossing

The speakers are great. The story is good, there are definitely some moments you can't stop.

Well I decided to return the book because the female in the book is fucking 16 like why would you do that it’s illegal and disgusting

An Excellent Dark Romance

Hostage is a brilliantly composed captor/captive romance. The storyline has darker elements, it's intense, entertaining, and very steamy. Skye Warren and Annika Martin, have written an engaging story with captivating characters; I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

The duel narration by Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet is outstanding. They honed in on each character, portraying their personalities, bringing them to life. I adored their performances.

Overall, Criminals & Captives is a well-plotted and well-written series, with exceptional character development, and I highly recommend it.

Throw away boys with a HEA 🖤

Lauren & Jacob are just perfect as Stone & Brooke. Lauren has just the right amount of naive school girl & Jacob is flawless as the dark & gritty Stone.

Hostage is a shocking & haunting dark & gritty story of vengeance. Lauren ultimately saves Stone from himself🖤

Not my favorite of the series

I preffered the first one but it wasn't a bad book either.
About the comment saying it's illegal, it's not (at least not in most occidental countries) but immoral I cannot deny ahah.

They do not have sex before she's 18 if this can reassure some, but in general I wouldn't listen to this series if you're looking for morally correct books hihi.
A couple of years older would have been better for me, I don't see the imperative to have her that young, 18 instead of 16 would have been better for my taste so they are actually together once they are both in their 20s even if his closer to 30. I felt pretty uncomfortably when he was referring to her school uniform...

Lauren Sweet voice was better for this character, I find it suits better a younger girl.
Jacob Morgan was amazing as always.

First book was better but this was still an amazing read-out-loud! It got more exciting towards the middle end (as usual) and yeah first book was better but yeah yeah, i still really liked it!

My Thoughts on Hostage

This book was everything I hoped for after reading Prisoner and more. It was so intense. Some times sad, sometimes heated in anger, other times heated for a whole different reason. But it was a story I didn't want to stop listening to once I really got started.

I loved the way Stone and Brooke's story built up over time after starting quite memorably. It had so many unexpected twists and turns and ended so freaking perfectly. My only sad point is that I don't know if there will be more. I hope so but at this point I just don't know.

The narration on this one was excellent. I knew Jacob Morgan would be. He's a top 5 male narrator for me. But Lauren Sweet was so so good too. I felt like she had excellent emotion and a pretty good male voice. She also just sounded right and a good fit for the part. Overall it was just a really excellent experience.

Amazing

Skye Warren is one of my go to author for my dark romance, this two book series with Annika Martin was amazing. I think you should read Prisoner first. Stone wasn’t my favorite character in prisoner, but I see him in a different light in hostage. Love the narration, Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet was amazing.
