Publisher's Summary

The ghosts of Hillbilly Hollow are whispering - and only Emma can hear them.

Emma Hooper thought coming home to small-town life and the family farm would give her a chance to rest and recover from a traumatic accident. But that was before she started seeing ghosts. It was before Grandma Hooper started singing on the roof, and it was way, way before anybody spotted a ghost in a 19th-century cavalry uniform coming out of an outhouse.

Can Emma learn to handle her newfound ability to see spirits, while figuring out a confusing relationship with the handsome local doctor? All while solving the ghastly murder of Preacher Jacob? Or is Hillbilly Hollow doomed to be forever haunted by a cold-blooded killer and a restless spirit?

🙄🙄

A character, Emma, with so many TSTL MOMENTS at the end of the book. There’s not much investigating or paranormal activity in this.

A FUN NEW (TO ME) PARANORMAL COZY

THE CHARACTERS ARE FUN. YOU WANT TO GET TO KNOW THEM. EVEN SLIGHTLY CURMUDGEONLY GRANDPA IS JUST A SOFTY AT HEART. GRANDMA'S GOT SOMETHING GOING ON WE MAY LEARN MORE ABOUT LATER, BUT THE 3 MUSKETEERS ARE GREAT. THEY ENJOY EACH OTHER. THE DIALOGUE IS GREAT, NOT CORNY, AND REBECCA MITCHELL DOES A WONDERFUL JOB NARRATING. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Good book

I want sure how I was going to like the book. but since I grew up in a similar setting it honestly felt quiet homie. I really enjoy the grandparents as they reminded me of my grandparents. But over all I love the story the way it flowed and some how made a romance county mystery work lol.over all ill probably listen once again in the future. I recommend listening to it yourself .

Decent

The narrator has some room for improvement. She had a pleasant voice and does a decent job with the character voices but her timing and cadence needs a little work. The story is decent, it drags a little. It involves mostly character development including where their relationships started and where they are now. It drags a bit throughout and leaves lots of holes.

Great Book

Fun, mystery, friendship, loyalty and love. Not steamy, just a reaquaintence with life, childhood and immense friendship.

It was alright

Kind of predictable through most of the story. Flat tone for the most part. The animal injects were the only good part

It was words

This was OK. I'm giving 3 stars because noise while doing work is good for me despite story issues. I'm a plus catalog subscriber, so this was a "free" listen for me. I bought volume 2 in this series and had to give it an honest 2 star review. This author writes many things well, but not coherent plots or realistic human character development. There isn't much magic, paranormal activity, romantic moments, or emotional growth storytelling here. The story revolves around a middle of the road dufus investigator/vigilante with paranormal abilities that out investigates the police for some reason... really without even the help of the paranormal element. I frankly still don't know why the story involved her seeing ghosts. The mechanism didn't move the plot at all. I think this author could do more, but this wasn't a great experience for me. Listen to it for an Ozark experience, follow the author for future stories, but don't get your hopes up for a great ride on this series.

Interesting, but didn't keep me hooked.

I liked it alright, but didn't love it. I found my mind wandering off instead of being genuinely intrigued by the storyline.

Cute, cozy mystery with OK plot and performance

I think this is one of those books that is better to read than to listen to. At least I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it instead of listening to it. In any case, it was overall OK.

nope

I am really into horror especially the paranormal but I wanted to find something different for a change. I thought oh a cozy, paranormal would be perfect. NOPE. this is so slow and seemed like it was going to be more of a cozy romance than a cozy paranormal. I'm sure it would be great for someone, just not this someone
