Outstanding. Authentic. Inspiring.

Written with detail of the time and naval circumstances. Surprisingly authentic description of HH's psychology and motivation. Today's world could use lots more like him.

A great book

Narration was a little bland at times, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I did grow used to the narrator's reading by the end.

performance volume range is a problem

the story was very good, and the performance was good for the most part. My problem was the volume range of the speaker. I don't have a problem with louder sections with more action, but the speaker would change volumes considerably within the same sentence. It was annoying.

Floata! (Flotilla!!!)... Indi-Fatigue-Able! (Indefatigable!!!!)...!!!

Oh My Sweet, Six Month Old, Freshly Powered and Changed Baby Jesus!

This Narrator is a Bloody Lubber to say the Very Least! It is F-ing PAINFUL to listen to this Lubber attempt to read this Outstanding Sea Story!

The Hornblower series provides a captivating story that is woven through unbelievable accurate detail of the running and sailing of the great ships of this time in history!

Narrator cures insomnia

I love the book, have read it many times. But this narrator is so droning and slow it's killing the experience.

CS Forester rules!

This is the third installment in the Hornblower series in which I’m now entirely caught up. My very literary friend turned me on to this series. Excellent window into the British Navy during the late 18th and early 19th century. Character development is well executed. The moral choices laid before a Horatio and how he answers them are a credit to the author’s deft handling of his character’s. Excellent stories

The narrator makes it or breaks it

If you listened to the Aubrey / Maturin series with Simon Vance narrating, you will be disappointed in this narration. This gentleman does not have the gift of creating distinct voice for the characters. It made listening a bit more tedious unfortunately. I’ve heard too many narrators who have the ability to vary their voices to enjoy this narration. It is also tough to listen when the narrator doesn’t know how to properly speak the naval terms. For example, saying forecastle as written rather than the proper way...foc’stle. I hope you enjoy the story.

I enjoyed the narrator

a lot of people are giving this book bad reviews because of the narrator, however I thoroughly enjoyed is reading he doesn't have a great knowledge of Naval term but his voice acting is outstanding

Volume Varies

Love the story. Narrator varies volume of voice which i don't like very much. Not a big problem.
