Publisher's Summary

All her life, Jasmine has been groomed in Atlanta’s high society to be the perfect woman of wealth. Soon to be married off to Percy Hugo Milton to keep money circulating between black families, she realizes she’s stuck in a dead-end relationship where he basically “ain’t shit”. Money matters most, marriage is nothing but a business deal, and love is nonexistent in Percy’s eyes. Not to mention he finds her particularly boring and uninspiring. Jasmine becomes desperate when she seeks the help of a spiritual guide, an eccentric witch named Delilah Skye who grants her three things she wants in life. Friendship, great sex, and true love. Yet, the reading doesn’t go as planned when Delilah informs Jasmine that everything she wants is hidden in the man she hates the most: Percy.

After a wild, drunken night in Atlanta a few years ago with some girl he never planned on seeing again, Homer Skye thought he had life figured out. He had the plans laid out to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Nasia Stewart, move her into a house, and start his family immediately. The all-American dream. That is, until he runs into his one-night stand, Pia Milton, and their two-year-old daughter he knew nothing about.

With the moon becoming full almost every night in Atlanta, things start to turn upside down as these two stories collide at the hands of black magic, family ties, and messy drama. Determined to find true love, Jasmine takes matters into her own hands by proposing a deal to her cheating fiancé. Pia has to come to terms with tolerating her child’s father and the black magic that runs deep in his crazy family. While Homer struggles with the thought of this woman who lied about their daughter for two years, she might just be the one he’s meant to be with all along.

Fine print: This story contains a little magic, belief in the impossible, and a few other random things and people that make up the story. Might be some hood shit in here, too, I don’t know. I say, just listen to it.

The narrator is terrible!!!

I couldn’t even get into this book due to the HORRIBLE narration. Change the narrator and I might give it a second listen. 👎🏽

Great Plot!!!

The overall PLOT of the story loved it! How everyone ultimately had some tides to one another in some way, shape or form! The book was very slow, got boring many times and dragged for the most part! The second half of the book is where my attention started to perk!! Over all great storyline…

The storyline is good

I love this book, but could not get over the reader... took me a very long time to get through it. The reading fluency struggled to say the least and had me over correcting her in my head. I’d much rather read the actual book. If this series has the same reader for the next book, I’ll just take the two days to read it vs the 4 months it took to listen.

The narrator is terrible

The reading is so inconsistent and erratic. Sounds like it may be a good story but just can’t follow the story line due to the narrator

Great story horrible narration

The actual story is great so far but I'm not done because it's a struggle to listen to. The narrator switches accents and it sounds like she stopped at random times in the middle of sentences and came back to record later so the reading doesn't flow.

Narrator took away from the story

Really wish the narrator would’ve read the book before recording. It was very obvious she wasn’t sure of how to project the characters voices in many scenes. This made the story hard to follow. Only half way through the book but yeah.. kinda mad I used my monthly audible credit on this one.

I wish I could get a refund

Don't waste your time or money, I actually like her other books The Carter boys & The Carter Girls.
