Publisher's summary
Picture life in the 1990s, in the war-torn Bosnian capital of Sarajevo, where shelling from Serbian troops stationed in the nearby mountains is a daily occurrence. There, the most basic activities become dangerous. Even the simple act of walking down the street can get you killed. The independent radio station called Radio Zid caters to the city's youth, broadcasting a mix of alternative rock, educational shows, and news programs. It is supported by local and international charities and staffed by volunteers in their late teens and early 20s. Although it is a dangerous feat to arrive to work at the station every day, young people flock there to spend time together, to listen to music, and to find respite from the war outside. Producer Neenah Ellis creates a portrait of a day in the life of Radio Zid.
