The drug cartels and the illegal underworld ate a tough and dangerous place. Thiago and Manny’s families were once on the same side until something happened and changed Manny’s life. He never understood what changed but soon Manny was locked away and he never heard from Thiago again. All that changes the night Thiago shows up to take Manny away from his prison. There has always been something special between the two, but can that spark be rekindled after so many years apart?

Manny and Thiago’s story is an engaging story that pulled me in right away. The heat between the two is scalding and they make a good couple. After years imprisoned in a single room by his father Manny does not know how to deal with all of his emotions especially his anger at Thiago leaving him for so long. Thiago is determined to prove himself to Manny but there are rules now that he is who he is. There love must me coaxed back to life and trust must be earned, but Thiago is ready for the challenge. I loved seeing Manny grow with the help of Thiago. Soon Manny will learn what it takes to be the man at Thiago’s side. There relationship is full of ups and downs and through it all they must deal with the dangers of the underworld. Their story is full of emotions and angst. The men are part of the cartel world where your actions are on display and respect is number one. Romance is not high on the list and even in their own home Thiago must be shown respect. Their story is not for those looking for hearts and flowers with grand gestures. In this world strength is what matters. Narrator Joseph Thorson does a good job of bringing these characters emotions out and bringing the listener into the story.

I hope there is a second book

Manny has a lot of innocence that surprises me since his father was part of a drug cartel. Thiago is just who you would expect to lead a drug cartel. Putting them together makes for a great story, I hope there is a second book that will expand on their relationship.

Tremendous audio!

The storyline for this cartel book is fantastic!! The fact that the two characters have known each other all their lives, plays a lot into the storyline. I love that the connection is fierce and there is quite a bit of cartel drama! Fabulous narrator! What a way to start a series!!!

Thiago’s father dies and leaves him everything including a drug cartel. He rescues his childhood best friend, Manny. Manny has been locked up/imprisoned for the last four years. He seemed kind of child like at times. Thiago turned to his dark side in that time. The story was action packed and filled with danger, some dub-con, violence, love and sex. There’s nothing feel good about this story but it is hot steamy. This was my first listen by Joseph Thorson. He did a great job!
