At the same time, DC Cat Cullen and Dave Harris are trying to get evidence against a man who preys on widowed older women. Vernon Deacon is seemingly a pillar of society, with very influential friends. But his victims aren't believed, so their job is not easy.

I have read all of the earlier books on the Fens. This was the best book of the whole Fens series!

I enjoyed this book. I love the characters and the author’s ability to come up with unusual stories. On to the next one…

Always a great mystery

I thought I had untangled this one and knew whodunit but ms Ellis had other ideas lol. I only figured out one small part that turned out to be so much more involved than I could’ve contrived. I always enjoy reading her books

The storyline keeps me coming back for more

Excellent detail, serious cases, not your run of the mill. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Best DI Galena book yet!

We’ve heard all the Nikki Galena books in sequence and have like this one the most yet. As always Joy Ellis kept us guessing until the very end. Highly recommend.

Another good listen

If you have listened to other books in this series, it is very similar in story and performance. Although it was somewhat predictable at times, it was still very entertaining.

Lots of plot lines

I felt like there was multiple potlines that in interwove and kept you guessing, fun enjoyable to get to know each character as you read the series

Good action, interesting storyline but..

I enjoyed this book very much, it was full of twists and odd characters with dark hidden secrets. It kept my interest right through to the end. I haven't found a Fens book I didn't like. I do have one complaint and it may sound a bit petty to someone else however, The book kept referring to a Atheemee or Aseemee and I was puzzled, it took me a while to figure out that narrator was mispronouncing Athame' and it drove me a bit nuts every time it happened.

Another well-written book! I was not expecting the ending and was delighted by the twisting plot!

I'm so glad I found the books by Joy Ellis for free on Audible! I read/listened to her books about Jackman first. Both series are really good!

There is a lot going on in this book. They are all busy with different cases. Both Niall and Joseph are worried about Tamsin who is getting too involved in what is going at a nearby farm.
