Publisher's Summary

Book 3 in the Eisenhorn series.

Inquisitor Eisenhorn returns, and this time he’s on the edge of treachery. How far can he go before he crosses the line and becomes what he is sworn to hunt?

Listen to It Because:

Eisenhorn seeks the truth behind a string of disappearances centred around a travelling carnival and a pictographer whose images are more than they seem. Inquisitor Eisenhorn has saved worlds and beaten bad guys galore, in short, he's a hero. But he's also done some dodgy things, and they're coming back to haunt him... His struggle to justify his actions (especially the daemon summoning) make this an incredibly compelling read and rounds off the trilogy perfectly.

The Story:

Hunted by his former allies as a radical and enemy of the Imperium, Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn must fight to prove that he remains loyal as he tracks down a dangerous heretic whom the Inquisition believes dead, the dread former Inquisitor Quixos. As he grows more desperate for victory, Eisenhorn uses ever darker means to achieve his goals, but how far can he go using the weapons of the enemy until he becomes that very enemy, and no different to the traitor he hunts?

A story you will remember

A story with characters you will love and miss. The story of Gregor Eisenhorn is one worth listening to. Keeps you pinned and keep listening. Great character developments and storytelling. Best 40k story ive heard so far.

Story falls Short

Although the performance of the piece has gotten better, the story is weak. Eisenhorn's descent into the chaotic abyss isn't nuanced and is just over the top, while the character attempts to convince himself that he is doing the right thing is eye rolling. Frankly, it just feels relatively out of character, and immersion breaking. If you have to spend half the book telling your readers......I'm doing this for the right reasons....it gets old quick.
Overall, an incredible weak story with a rushed ending and a half-assed throwback villain. Read or Listen to the first book and enjoy. I truly believe Dan Abbot outdid himself on Xenos.

This was Tough

This isn't like the first two. This story is a hard one. I hated every moment that went by. It was painful. I don't mean the writing or narration; they were just as great, as is to be expected. The story was well done too. However, that story hurt. A lot.

Incredible book, fantastic performance

Not only the best book set in the Warhammer 40k universe, but one of the best sci-fi trilogies of all time. I'm serious, this is such an underrated treasure.

Chaos corrupts

It deeply sadend me to see how low Isenhorn would go to exterminate the enemies of The Imperium. 'Be careful not to become a monster to fight monsters' , and even at the end i could not be really sure if Gregor Isenhorn have gone over the edge of corruption.

A fantastic conclusion to a brilliant trilogy

Eisenhorn's will is tested by the warp in this excellent conclusion to a great set of books. Toby Longworth's narration brings the story to life and makes the audio book version a phenomenon in its own right. I could see this book series as a set of blockbuster films, but they would probably ruin it!

Simply fantastic

A wonderful end to the original Eisenhorn trilogy. A great look into the 40k world from a different perspective to the standard bolter porn of regular 40k narratives.

Exactly what I was looking for!

After diving into audio books many months ago I had started on GoT after feeling let down by the tv series, 4 books in and hundreds of hours later i wanted to top myself.
Having had a break of a few months it suddenly struck me that i had been a fool! I've been into the Games Workshop hobby since I was 8 and I've read many of the books already.....so why wasn't I listening to the audio books!
With the promise of an Eisenhorn TV series I thought it best to start here. BY THE GOD EMPEROR I was right to do so! the narration is outstanding, length of book is perfect and throwing that into the incredible lore of 40k and you have in my mind the perfect series.
I could not stop listening, I wanted more and luckily for all of us there are hundreds of books from GW.
Having now finished the entire Eisenhorn series and am about to move onto Ravenor I can not recommend these books enough. screw GoT! I have found the audio books for me and want MORE!

excellently preformed fully enjoyed

i spent a lazy sunday and listened to the whole book. it was a enjoyable from start to finish, the performace was well done and executed perfectly. thoroughly enjoyed this and was keep captivated the whole way, the descriptions of fight scenes and psycic powers were enough to draw you in and get your imagination creating the scenes in your head. i would highly recomend this series.

Fitting end to a trilogy

The final arc of Eisenhorns trilogy. Abnett at his best. If you're reading this you've already read the other books and will love this.
