Another Masterpiece

Rob has done it again. A story that grabs you and holds on to you the entire time. The character building is perfection and world design is brilliant. It’s a fun and gripping ride! Can’t wait for the next one!

but we'll executed, which goes along way.

what an amazing book.

This book quickly became one of my favorites. My only complaint is that I have no idea when the next book comes out.

Trio of 3 series.

The sope of this series is awesome! With 3 series coming out concurrently for the three different ages what's not to like? While a bit heavy handed on some of the details I am truly excited to see how the first three work together and then all 9 when they're finished. Great start to a promising series!

Hayes's best yet!

Wonderfully executed concepts, excellent characters, awesome set pieces, and a compelling mystery. The narration is also absolutely fantastic!

Amazing!

What a ride! So many twists and turns, I loved it! Looking forward to the next book in the series. I don’t know where the story goes from here, but I’m excited to find out.

Something New

This story is incredible. I didn't know what to expect going into this story, but was intrigued at the audacious goal of creating a trilogy of trilogies. Wow. I am hooked and am already itching for the next release. the style is similar to Sanderson in terms of world building and characters. this feels more heavy though, in a good way. not exactly grimdark, but certainly less black and white. the story, the characters, and the world are full of nuances and are rich in lore. I find myself yearning for more, which is what makes this endeavor so beautiful. after completing Harold, I immediately went on to read Deathless and am now starting Demon. The addition of these two books serves to enhance the world building even more and provides context to the story making it fuller and more rich. well done.

Unique Story

I enjoyed the overall storyline but was captivated by the immortal characters to include the monarch and angels. Great characters details where I could see them appear before me, very cool.

Awesome story!

I loved this story, and as it is the first of a trilogy, I can't wait to see where it goes next! An exciting plot and quest, interesting characters, and unexpected twists and turns. Knowing there are the novellas that tie-in, those are my next reads, because I want a peek behind the curtain of this story's histories and excited to see how we got to the place that the story had started. I recommend this to anyone looking for a new epic fantasy story to dive into!

A long ass set up…

Overall, a fascinating premise. Story was engaging enough to keep me listening but an anticlimactic ending in my opinion. The whole book was one long set up for the rest of the series I guess… Which is the point of a “book one“ I suppose, but there was zero pay off. I didn’t feel a sense of wow.. almost felt somewhat disappointed. The MC was very “meh” to me. But that could have been me expecting/wanting her to become something she never did. What she remained though was somewhat annoying. Of course, there’s a chance she could get better in future books. Which brings me to positive of this book. It’s well written, clearly, very thought out, and is probably setting the reader up for some big things in the future. Probably… hopefully… which is why I feel kind of negative about it at the moment. It was good enough to make me listen all the way through, interesting enough to make me wonder what comes next, but enough of a let down that I am afraid to invest more time into with the risk of being let down again. Whenever I finish a story I enjoyed, I can’t wait to consume the next book. This one, I’ll have to think about… maybe if I have nothing else to listen to. Still gave 4 stars. Like I said, it’s a good story that sets us up for something that could be pretty bad ass. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
