Publisher's Summary

An Affinity.

Most humans never get one, but the Goddess gives everyone the opportunity when they turn 16.

With an Affinity, humans are given access to their internal energy and skills. Magical powers that allow you to interact with the world in ways you could never imagine.

When Terrence receives his Affinity, he is shocked to discover it has never been seen before within the kingdom. Worse yet, his Affinity reinforces the thing he was made fun of for his entire life. His weight.

Follow Terrence as he uses his Affinity to progress with the hopes of becoming a dungeoneer - someone who explores and conquers dungeons.

Discover a unique world where Terrence and his friends learn about their new abilities, their Affinities, and themselves.

Their skills will grow, and if they work hard enough, they might eventually rank up!

Decent story

okay so this is more a slice of life than adventure since you pretty get the town bullies, making friends on the way to a school, making more friends at school and well learning. there only like 2 fights on the whole book and one of them is just the uncle showing the mc how to hunt monsters and the other is the uncle fighting with his group of adventures

nothing happened

nothing happened great world-building Mike the characters but nothing happens you'd have to put book one and two together to make half a book maybe one to make the events feel like a full story

half a book

narrator needs better vocal range practice, story itself is not boring, interesting and exploratory to some degree, just wish it wasn't half a book

Half a actual book.

Prologue was painful to sit through. no middle or end to either plot line. only saving grace is the narrator and sequels exist that may make a complete story instead of this half finished one.

The language is very unrealistic

The stilted and forced dialogue sounds very fake. A lot of very boring dialogue forced in as filler.

Books 1 and 2 should've been just 1 book.

Story is just ok. but nothing really happens in this book. It's hard to even know if this story will be good or not, because literally almost nothing happens. we as the reader don't even know who/what is our antagonist. The story has the feeling that the author deliberately had nothing happen in this com in the hopes you would get the second book.
The narration is also just ok. Narrator could stand to use a little more inflection in his readings to try and sound a little less robotic.

Nothing new or exciting.

First time I say the general writing was quite good but the story and plot was some lack luster. This was a standard cookie cutter plot of boy gets power boy goes to school. The Author who wrote this was checking off boxes to make sure it had all the elements needed to match the thousands of other stories out there. Boy agains unusual powers check, boy is bullied check, boy needs to go to school check, boy gets plucky side kick check, and boy gets smart girl to help out check. It also feels like the side story of his uncle seems to have just been throwing into the book just so the story didn’t drag as much as it does.

That’s sad if you like the boy goes to school and slowly grinds up to become better story then this might be right Down Your Alley. My issue with this story is I’ve read so many of these stories it’s now become almost impossible to read something like this without comparing it all the hundreds of others I’ve read. If this story falls in line with many of the other popular stories out there I’m sure the main character will be truly strong by the six or seventh novel. But keep in mind it’s not the end goal that you’re looking for but the journey that’s the real story.

Combine at least book 1 and 2

Character building is ok, but it’s over 8 hours. This shouldn’t be considered a full book. Buyer beware should be attached. It takes a lot of will power too make it even half way without considering dropping the book.

It's good but incomplete

It's a good bit of origin and world building but when it ends it kinda just stops in the middle of stuff. It wasn't even a cliffhanger. No major hurdle had been overcome, there wasn't some dire consequence on the rise. The main characters were in the middle of a conversation and the book just ends. It really feels like the author was trying to gat to some exact word count before publishing.

could be better

it has an alright story with a interesting rarely used system for abilities and has good potential how every the one thing that's holds it back is the MC he is super annoying and can't seem to work out the simplest things
