Publisher's summary

Human and demon, heaven and hell, battle for the fate of the world....

The demons that could control stones and elementals have been defeated, but the most powerful of Simon Wong's associates still remains to create almost undetectable copies of humans and Shen. This demon allies with Kitty Kwok to prepare a torturous trap for Emma and Simone, from which they may never return.

Wudang Mountain is enveloped by dark foreboding as Xuan Wu begins to reappear - sometimes human, sometimes turtle, but always without memory.

Emma and Simone are in a race against time as they try to rescue Xuan Wu...before the demons capture him.

Contains mature themes.

Best of the bunch so far

I dithered on whether or not to give this book a five star rating or not. Honestly it was more than good enough story wise. However, there were a few too many discrepancies with characters for me. Still over all the book is absolutely fascinating, answers nearly all of my questions from all the previous books, lol it even answers questions i didn't realize i should have been wondering about. Looking back i feel as stupid as Emma, it seems so obvious in hindsight. Seriously worth the credit.
As for the discrepancies i mentioned, there are a couple like Gold saying stones don't marry despite it being a plot point that the descendant of a former wife had been taken in the last book. those types of things can be somewhat irksome, but they are not the reason i decided to go with a four star rating. i can't say without spoiling the book but it seems that Kylie decided to revamp one of her characters by giving him a completely different personality. It was really confusing and seemed to come out of nowhere. I get that he was faking it to some extent, but come on, you can't make a guy an ass hat for six books and then say "tehe just kidding" while also pretending that Emma knew the whole time. i mean it's just jarring. I had to keep relistening to that part over and over again just to make sure that it really was the same guy we have known from the beginning. Not a well executed faint, which is sad cause it undermines the much better written one that i was gushing about at the beginning of this review.
I seriously cannot wait for the final stretch of this series. fingers crossed i can get the last three books before the year is out.
