Forced to stay stuck inside the walls of the home his grandmother left him, he spent his time learning all he could about computers and social media. His online friends never cast him aside—too bad the real world wasn’t as kind.

When he answers an ad in the local paper for online marketing assistance, he wasn’t sure what to expect. Least of all, the brawny man answering the door to a log cabin that had seen better days.

Not the worst audiobook I’ve ever heard

I think the book is probably better than the narration. I admit I’ve not sampled much from this author, but I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt and assuming most of the wrong words, strange pronunciations, and linguistic flubs fall on the narrator. Surely the author has an editor, or proofreader, or early readers who would catch those things and give her opportunity to correct them before publication.

The story felt slow to get going. So much talking to the reader, explaining and describing without much of anything happening. That is a style, but not the one this book ended up having. Eventually some plot, action, dialog did arrive.

I think the story and characters at the core of this book are good. I also think it needed a bit more work before being set free. This narrator didn’t do it any favors, either. He, too, seems like he has potential for the work, but isn’t quite there yet.

If you love this author or narrator, maybe you’ll enjoy this audiobook.
If you’re just looking for your next listen, I’d recommend you keep looking.
This isn’t the worst thing I’ve heard on Audible, but it’s far from good or something I’ll recommend.

Great listen for an awakening

Great story overall. I enjoyed the fact that one character had experience with his identity while the other was learning where he stood. I was hoping the bully from earlier on the book would make another return later.....he kinda just vanished. The voice/reader did a wonderful job
