Publisher's summary

Having accepted the love of both Myna Mooncaller and Fiona Mithrilsoul, Sean discovered happiness he hadn’t ever thought he would know, and began to acknowledge how different this society was from his old world.

Everywhere they went, they ran into trouble. First had been bandits, which actually proved to be fortuitous, with Ryann Cullin entering Sean’s service after that attack. The sudden harsh blizzard had been the worst trial they had to endure. Cold that even Sean couldn’t withstand had nearly stopped them in their tracks, but they managed to reach Flento.

Once the storm had passed, they were finally on their way to Hearthglen. Sean was hoping to use the city to settle down and learn more about what he could do. However, that would require finding a way to make a living, which meant Sean would have to make a name for himself. That was always something he hadn’t wanted to do; it might earn him some friends, but the enemies he would certainly make might very well be his undoing.

(This work contains adult situations that some might find offensive, the least of which is graphic sex. This book is about an Overpowered MC, and contains a harem. You’ve been warned.)

big fat pile of nothing

Good part: narration was top notch, Adriana continues to be my favorite female reader
Bad part: this book was 8 hours of nuttin goin on. You could summarize this entire book in a one page synopsis and skip to the next in the series and not miss anything. Let me give you the cliff notes, (spoiler alert) MC moves to the city, befriend the working class Joes which pisses off the upper class dudes. They set off evil plans that includes not selling him gems and banning him from the public bathhouse.
The MC hires an apprentice who falls in love with him, hires a maid who falls in love with him, hires a shopkeeper...you get the idea. Throughout the MC is oblivious to the fact that every woman he talks to is in love with him.
They eat, they spar, and they go to the bar. Matter of fact, a good quarter of the book is just descriptions of various ales, meals and teas they eat. It's like the food channel sponsored a novel.
Anyways, the MC discovers that he can copy any spell or ability he sees, this leads him to do exactly nothing. After seeing a healer he figured out how to cast heal, which he does on his neighbor and then never does it again. At the end Ryan gets killed, he brings her back to life with the promise of life bonding/marrying her and the book ends.
There, now you know. Can we please get back to the quality of the first book now?

Next book please

Hearthglen picks up where Life Bonds left off and is a good continuation of the story. Sean is still clueless when it comes to women but is picking up skills left and right. I really enjoyed this book and am ready for book number 4. Andrea was great as always. She is one of the best narrators out there

Wait for book 4, nothing happened!

I have many issues with this book. For example he has no issue hitting women, breaking their bones or whatnot in training but he can"t have relations with multiple women? He keeps using excuses like different cultures and morals from his original world. So you were taught it's ok to beat women but not love them?

Main issue is as soon as something happen the book ends. This book is forgettable and anyone into the series will forget this book well waiting for the next to be released. Wait and listen so one can continue right into book 4. This book never should have been released as it was. its half a novel created to get all the money out of the readers as possible.

Another Celebration of weakness

First I would like to say that this is Narrated really well.

Idk why Daniel Schinhofen keeps writing harem books about overpowered MC'S who hide their strength and complain about other women wanting them. This overused trope does not make his MC more interesting, it just makes the story annoying. Don't write harem books if the main character doesn't want to have other women, duh! Why write a story about a guy sent to a world to make things better, give him the powers to make things better, and then have him be afraid of doing anything because it might change the world? The MC hates bullies, and spends the entire book being bullied. MC doesn't allow anyone to hurt his loved ones, spends entire book letting someone call his spouse an animal or worse. Daniel Schinhofen seems to do the same thing in all of his books. Daniel Schinhofen, please please please write the book where James is the main character.

Also, this book is the equivalent of watching a four day golf match in slow motion. The characters do the same thing. 1. wake up. 2. eat breakfast and discuss their feelings. 3. Go to work and discuss their feelings. 4. have fight practice and discuss their feelings. 5. Have dinner and be upset that women find the MC attractive. 6. Go out for drinks and discuss their feelings. 7. go to bed.

Want to know why every review is mentioning that the story was narrated so well? It's because they aren't discussing the story. THERE IS NO STORY! Save yourself time and frustration.

Excellent performance and a fun read but....

I always enjoy reading Daniel's books and have been waiting for this one to come out on Audible for a while. Suffice it to say I was thrilled to see it finally appear. As always, the choice of Andrea as the narrator was sublime. She is one of my favorite narrators out there in all honesty.

The story itself was a great continuation from the previous books and was a logical progression in where we need to see Sean and Co settle somewhere and build a life. I loved the crafting bits and him setting up shop in the new city.

For things that were not so fun: The constant internal dialogs from the MC about his relationships. While he did grow in trying to get past his hangups, it felt like we had covered the same ground from book 2 with him getting closer to Mina. I can understand it is a personality trait of his but I sure hope in the fourth book we will see less of this since it is starting to sound repetitive and exasperating.

A comment on where the book ended. I know to have a cliffhanger ending is something authors like to do to encourage readers to come back, but this was a bit much. It made me feel as if this were part of a much larger novel that was cut in two. I would have liked to have seen the aftermath of the incident but it looks like we will need to wait for BW4 to do so, and longer for the next audiobook to come out. Disappointing but it will not detract from me to purchase the next book.

Overall, I enjoyed listening to the book immensely and would still recommend the series but I would temper it by mentioning the rather abrupt ending so as not to jar the reader I would recommend the book to.

Great continuation off the series!

Great story and narration!

Sean and friends are back, and making waves! Having reached a suitable location, they need to find a place to live and a means of making money while keeping a low profile. What could possibly go wrong?

Andrea does a great job of narrating this story, and bringing the characters to life!

If you enjoyed the rest of this series you won't be disappointed in this addition to it!

I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book!

My favorite series now

I have read many different series, from many different authors, and they all have greatness in one way or another. This one has taken center stage for me. Just the right combinations of MC power use, adult theme, story, and variety. I'm almost sad finishing this installment knowing I have to wait for the story to continue.

I may be done with this Daniel

This series is really frustrating for me. I like the concept. I like the world. j like almost ALL the ancillary characters. But the MC is constantly whineing and angsty and I just cant take it any more. I mean the guy even SAYS he should stop it, but doesn't. If Sean says "give me some time" or " I dont want anyone to get hurt" one my time I will likely throw my kindle at something. he's not even original in his whineing, repeated the same phrases constantly. The MC wishes his friend James was in the world. I do too...instead of Sean.

So glad I stuck with it.

I found the last book in this series rather repetitive, but this one is so much better. The story progresses very well and the dialogue is a lot more natural and less cringey.
I love that this litrpg isn't just a lose concept of a main plot with lots of random encounters. Rather the main plot is tied to the core of the world the MC has found himself in. Will be awaiting lots more.
