Publisher's summary

Holden Whittaker broke my heart when I was 18. What kind of guy stands up his prom date and leaves her hanging, waiting for him to show up? A total jerk, that’s who.

Never mind. I left my tiny nowhere town and moved to New York to follow my dream of becoming an actress.

Ten years later, my dream hasn’t happened, and I’m working as the office supply girl at Morgan Financial Holdings, doing my best to keep my paycheck and not get fired by the world’s most terrifying boss. Life couldn’t get much worse, until I get stuck in an elevator and guess who comes to rescue me? In a city of eight million people, it’s Holden.

Turns out he’s moved to New York, too, to be an EMT. I don’t want to see my teenage nemesis as one of the good guys, but he’s out saving lives every day, and he’s still gorgeous and cocky. I could fall for him all over again, and that’s a problem. Because it’s only a matter of time before Holden crushes me again.

My hometown heartbreaker isn’t the guy I left behind anymore. If I could stop hating him, I might belong with him. The question is, which one of us will get hurt first?

Too easy...

Spoiler: Prom is a big deal for most of us. The heroine spent time to get ready and was stood up by the hero. Fast forward ten years, they met again. Then she cried after he apologized and she agreed to go on a date. Okay, the heroine was so easy to let it go and willing to have dinner with him? I roll my eyes so many times with this story that I wanted to throw my phone and tell her how dumb she was! The hero was a loser because it took ten years for him to apologize and mind this, they met by accident. She tried to play games with him and playing hard to get. Yeah right! I will not recommend this story since I hate both characters.

Good second chance romance

This is a sweet second-chance romance that follows Mina and Holden. Holden stood Mina up for prom and 10 years later, they meet again, when Mina has to be rescued from her elevator (he's now an EMT). The story as to why he stood her up is plausible but the reason for not contacting her to apologize for 10 years, not so much. Otherwise, I thought both characters were generally sweet and I liked how the prior couple from the other first generation of Heroes club (in this case, Graham and Soraya from Stuck up Suit), played a role in helping them get together.

I listened to the audiobook through Audible Escape and it was well done. Grace Grant did a good job with all the voices although her male voice sounded a bit strained. Lance Greenfield also did well overall, with a pretty good range to cover male and female voices.

Loved it!

This was sweet, funny, sad, and steamy. Julie Kriss is now on my favorite authors list.

The author’s narrations were perfect. Grace Grant is so talented, and has been a favorite narrator for several years. She never fails to make me smile.

3 stars!

Heartbreaker by Julie Kriss is another story written in the Cocky Hero World. Mina and Holden have history. In fact Holden stood her up 10 years ago on prom night and she’s never forgotten or forgiven him. To me 10 years is a long time to hold a grudge. I had trouble connecting to the characters. There were however a few side characters I loved that added humor to the story. Overall there were sweet moments and good chemistry. I didn’t love it, but didn’t hate it either.

Lance Greenfield and Grace Grant have good chemistry together. Their voices complimented each other well and enjoyed listening to them.

A really cute story

This is a palette cleanser brought to life by two of my favorite narrators, Grace Grant and Lance Greenfield. Mina's fears were relatable to me and I liked the way she worked though them.

Very enjoyable

A great addition to the Cocky Hero Club for sure!! I really enjoyed how Graham and Soraya from Stuck Up Suit were integrated in cameos.

Hot Groveling Paramedic.

This was a quick easy read/listen. Holden stands Mina up for prom ten years ago. They have a chance meeting and Holden is determined to make amends. Holden has issues and secrets in his past he was/is dealing with and Mina is finding a way to be comfortable in her skin and in life. overall decent book. Steamy, and light on the emotions.
