Listening to this audiobook felt like having a calm guide through some messy emotions I hadn’t faced before. The CBT tools were practical and not overwhelming, which made it easier to actually use them. The CBT stuff (cognitive behavioral therapy) in chapter 3 was particularly helpful as this is a pragmatic, methodical way of actually taking action and helping out parts of ourselves that could do with a little (or a lot) of healing. It was so interesting to discover the fact that we all look at the world through different lenses, which is obvious when someone makes it clear, but kind of forgotten if not. I really felt it when Jo Mills describes wondering if someone at work is mad at you or not! Or are they just having a bad day? This was so close to home and made me realize that these things are pointers towards what within us could do with some work.
