If you could sum up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Book 1 in three words, what would they be?

A. MA.ZING.

Have you listened to any of Jim Dale’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Excellent. If you like this, I recommend his reading of the Books of Beginning Series. This first is the Emerald Atlas. I will say that on the first listen I did not like the portrayal of Hermione. She seemed a little whiny. But I persevered, and now that I am used to it, I am glad I stuck it out.

Any additional comments?

I have listened to these over and over, checking them out from my local library. I have an hour commute each way to and from work, and I have listened to these so many times. I also listen to them at night as I fall alseep to Jim Dale's calm voice. I always wanted to own them, but I just could not afford the price on Pottermore. I don't know what prompted the shift, but I am eternally grateful. This has made my day, my week, my month, and quite possibly my whole year.

I am a fan of Harry Potter

I love the Harry Potter series but Please give us Stephen fry version! It’s so much better!!

At last!

I'm a baby boomer, male, usually listen to mysteries, but I've enjoyed Harry Potter since I heard the first one, glad Audible has them now so I can listen once more. The books are even better than the movies. Jim Dale is the perfect reader. I wish J K would do more like Harry than the mysteries she has done.

Naturally, an amazing story to hear read by another! Such vivid images come to mind, both those included in the film, as well as loads that are not. Mental imagery in over drive as reader does the proper voices & relays emotions. Lovely!

wonderful narrator for a wonderful story

this is my third time through the whole series, and I still love it. the narrator is fantastic, and the story is amazing

The Narration was odd to say the least

The voices he attributed to many of the characters were a bit odd, and in some aspects just wrong. Making me picture Firenze as a highly excitable Scottish whelp as opposed to the wizened Centaur he is, and a mispronunciation of several names including Voldermort had me cringing. But by far the worst part has little to do with the author as much as the producers...Right as the story is reaching it's conclusion they start playing this elementary school style music nearly drowning out the epilog. Why can Audible get the Stephen Fry narrated version? It's much better!

Jim Dale is Astonishing. 10 stars, darn it.

What did you love best about Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Book 1?
The audiobook lives up to the magic and imagination of the book and the huge cast of characters JKR created so brilliantly. This is due entirely to the talent of Mr. Dale who voices the myriad of characters with consistency and wit. I loved listening to this as much as I loved reading them.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Book 1?
Too many to describe.

His ability to give each character his/her own voice, unique and appropriate.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did! Driving across country, this and #2 kept me going.

Any additional comments?
I doubted that any one person could perform this series of books on his own, that it would require a cast of readers to give so many characters their due. I was wrong. Dale does a remarkable job distinguishing each character perfectly, and also communicates the playfulness that is so endearing in Rowlings' writing.

Reliving Memories of My Children's Childhood

I didn't read the Harry Potter series when they were released because I was busy raising children, who did read the books however. I saw the movies with my children and enjoyed watching my kids enthusiasm with the stories and characters. One of my children passed away a few years ago, and I found her books, and plan to read them. I found the audible version and decided to give it a try and was elated with thr narration and details of the story. It feels like I'm reliving the memories with my child who loved these stories, and enjoying them with her as she watches over me in spirit.

Yearly Reread

I do a reread of Harry Potter every year and I have always come back to the audiobooks. I love coming back to this world and Jim Dale does an amazing job!!
