The fae abandoned this world to us. And the ones with power rule.

Gold. Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold. Even me.

King Midas rescued me. Dug me out of the slums and placed me on a pedestal. I'm called his precious. His favored. I'm the woman he Gold-Touched to show everyone that I belong to him. To show how powerful he is. He gave me protection, and I gave him my heart. And even though I don't leave the confines of the palace, I'm safe.

Until war comes to the kingdom and a deal is struck.

Suddenly, my trust is broken. My love is challenged, and I realize that everything I thought I knew about Midas might be wrong. Because these bars I'm kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage.

But the monsters on the other side might make me wish I'd never left.

From bestselling author Raven Kennedy comes the first book in the BookTok hit Plated Prisoner series, perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L Armentrout. The myth of King Midas is reimagined in this compelling adult fantasy series that is as addictive as it is unexpected. With romance, intrigue, and danger, the gilded world of Orea will grip you from the very first word. Intended for mature listeners.

Gild is the perfect set-up for a slow burn epic romantasy. The Plated Prisoner series is my favorite of all time for it's character development, themes, and witty banter. Anthony and Lilly bring the story to life. I can't wait for the rest!

I loved the new duet narration!

Painfully boring and honestly, just yapping about pointless nonsense. I wish she was more of self assured character. It was beyond boring listening to the pointless story but also with a soft and gentle/scared voice and personality.. it’s a snoozer.

It’s a no for me

it wasn't a bad book just very long winded. it was hard to get through, when it finally got exciting it was right at the end. For me, it was hard to finish. cliff hanger for sure but I won't be reading the next book. acting was decent but I could never get that emotional connection with the female voice.

it was ok

I love the story being told here and will be getting book 2. It's refreshing that the story is mostly different than the other popular books out right now. It does ramble on though. I lose focus and have to re-listen to parts or find myself saying "ok. I get the point...get on with the story". Other than that, it really is a captivating timeline/story.

Good Story... lots of rambling though
