I didn't think I would like it but did

I love Tananarive Due books. I bought and downloaded it as soon as I saw her name. I didn't realize it was short stories until the first one ended as it was an audible book. Damn, I said. I kept listening each time hurt that the stories didn't continue. I was very thankful for carrier series though. All the stories are very good just horribly short 😭.

Narration is a skill

I enjoyed the stories, particularly the trilogy. However, the authors narration of two of the stories detracted from the stories themselves. Narration is a skill. There are authors that possess the skill and more power to them if they want to narrate their work. Unfortunately, they are in the minority. Neil Gaiman is the only author I’ve experienced who’s self narration actually elevates his work. Ghost Summer stories is worth a listen. It’s probably even better in print.

Not what I was expecting or was looking for but…

Not really typical horror stories but interesting and well written. I really like the narrator and kept me on, just not what I was expecting.

Many of these stories will stick with me.

Beautiful, nuanced and creepy. A sort of quiet horror, that kept me interested and uncomfortable (in a good way).
