Publisher's Summary

It’s been 12 years since the undead hordes swept over the earth, forcing mankind to the brink of extinction. We now live like rats, scavenging in the ruins of our fallen civilization as the dead hunt us night and day.

There is little left to scavenge, however. Grocery stores were emptied ages ago, gas tanks have long been dry, and bullets are so precious that a man is lucky to have two to his name.

Still, we survive.

But for how much longer? Instinct and love have combined to turn Darwin’s theory on its head. The strongest didn’t survive in this world. They were the first to die, leaving behind a generation of orphans.

It’s a generation that’s never had a full belly. It’s a generation that has no idea what an Xbox did, or what algebra is for. It’s a generation of children who never laugh out loud, and who have learned to cry softly because the dead are always near and the dead are always so very, very hungry.

uhh?

I was looking for a casual post-apocalyptic listen. This book revolved more around a girl named "jilly bean" that has all the solutions to their post-apocalyptic woes... but at a cost. not what I was looking for.

Deus Ex Jilly-Bean.

The author learned what he knows about dissociative identity disorder from cartoons. The Jilly-Bean character is annoying, and you hear her name about ten times a minute after she joins the group. The rest is just mediocre. Why do writes keep trying to make the story better by making the zombies into super-zombies? That's not enough to carry a poorly written story.

Needed more zombie action and I didn't care for the ending, it felt inappropriate.

Not a Zombie story...

I’ve read several Zombie books and yes, most are either about how to kill, how the virus got spread, how people survived after, but this story was more about society and how people reverted back to old beliefs and a schizophrenic girl, who ends up becoming queen. At times the story was gripping, but most of the time I just had it as background noise. Downloaded this story after listening to Apocalypse Crusade and felt I had found a new apocalyptic author that would feed my hunger for all things zombie.

Great story terrible ending

I loved the story up till the ending and the ending was absolutely terrible i cant suggest this book due to the ending being so bland and none eventful and boring. Its like the author got bored and just gave up with the ending.
