Elizabeth Bennet's visit to Netherfield Park to tend to her ailing sister takes a surprising turn when she meets with Mr. Darcy on the grounds, and his manner so altered as to shock her. The gentleman provokes her gratitude when he helps her escape all Miss Bingley's contempt, conveying her to her sister's room and taking the duty of informing the mistress of her presence on himself.

As her stay at the estate lengthens, Elizabeth comes to appreciate him, for this Mr. Darcy is a man worth knowing, his opinions intelligent, his manner deferential. Their newfound amity is not agreeable to all those present, however, for Miss Bingley has long schemed to draw a proposal from the unwilling Mr. Darcy and will not surrender her prize without a struggle.

Before Elizabeth and Jane depart from the estate, Elizabeth has proof of the gentleman's interest in his own words, and she cannot help but wonder how the future will unfold with this who appears so determined to have her good opinion. The arrival of a fool and a libertine in turn throws obstacles in the lovers' path, but the course of true love, though it may not always be smooth, cannot be prevented forever. Those four days at Netherfield Park have changed Elizabeth's perspective, which will change her future.

4 1/2 stars rounded up. The audiobook was fantastically done by the extremely talented Harry Frost.

Here we have Darcy coming to an awareness, significantly faster than canon about his attitude, pride and prejudices. Due to this awakening, Darcy starts to see and treat Elizabeth better, especially when she is nursing Jane at Netherfield. Darcy invites his sister to visit and the girls develop a strong friendship. When walking into town, per canon, Wickham is there, but Elizabeth stands in front of Georgiana to protect her. Later, Wickham and Mr. Collins get into a fight, who knew Collins had it in him. This does not mean that Mr. Collins is a kind and loving man, no some of his later actions cause Mr. Bennet to be a stronger father.

Overall, this is a low angst story where we have lots of Darcy and Elizabeth on page together.

Enjoyed the development of the love story-little angst. A most pleasurable read. And Harry Frost is a wonder as always.

The love story is delightful

I have long waited for this one to come out in audio. This story has Darcy doing some soul searching early and resolving to mend his behavior. He also admits to himself that he is intrigued by Elizabeth and chooses to explore it. Not giving any spoilers, this is in the first chapter. Darcy continues swoon-worthy, Elizabeth is not too obstinate, and thereby hangs the tale.

I love this Darcy

Darcy recognises early on that his conduct towards those in Meryton and especially towards Elizabeth was not that of a gentleman, and takes steps to better himself. Most of the story takes places during the four days Elizabeth spends at Netherfield caring for Jane, but it’s enough for her to understand that Darcy isn’t quite the rude man who insulted her at the assembly. Very enjoyable development of their friendship and Darcy’s eventual courtship. A cloying Caroline, an annoying Mr Collins, an insufferable Wickham, and a brief appearance by Lady Catherine add to the mix.

Harry Frost’s performance is outstanding as always. His voices are like coming home to these characters every time.

I’ve already listened a second time!! I absolutely loved this low angst story! People actually communicate with each other. The mean people (Carolyn and Wickham, of course!) are confronted directly and quickly and have consequences! I will enjoy this story again and again!

My new favorite!!!
