Publisher's Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Fern Michaels, beloved worldwide for her heartwarming novels, comes a story of family secrets, friendship, and second chances, as one woman is confronted with the shocking truth about her past.

Illustrator Lucy Brighton loves her work. Her animal characters Izzy, Bizzy, and Lizzy have their own comic strip, card line, and children’s cartoon, and their popularity has given Lucy financial stability and freedom. Yet none of that quite erases the lingering ache of a cold, lonely childhood. Sent away to boarding school at ten, Lucy spent little time with her parents afterward, and her few visits home only seemed to widen the gap between them. Even though she still lives in the New Jersey house where she grew up, Lucy has had little contact with her parents since they moved to Florida five years ago.

Then Lucy receives a call to say that her mother and father have been killed in a car crash. While settling their affairs in Florida, Lucy begins to realize how little she really knew about their lives. She has no way to explain the mysterious safe in their bedroom, with its cache of fake passports, cash, and weapons. Everything in the house is neat, scrupulously clean, almost too picture-perfect. What secrets were the Brightons keeping? Were they even who they claimed to be?

When Luke Kingston, the developer who helped build her parents’ home, calls to pay his respects, he and Lucy strike up a friendship that promises more. But before Lucy can explore a future with him she knows she must uncover the truth—even if it changes everything she once believed about her parents, and about herself.

Light, Feel Good Story . . . Good Listen

Every once in a while I need an audio book just like this one . . . it just "hits the spot". It's not particularly deep . . . it's not exactly realistic . . . but it's oh, sooooo good . . . it's escapism at it's best . . . wish there was a sequel. Forget Me Not is a joy to listen to!

Juvenile & Boring !!!! - Don't wast your time

What would have made Forget Me Not better?

Basic story line was interesting, but the writing was not up to what I expect from Fern Michaels. It took over 2 hours of listening to even feel like I was getting into the story. Those 2 hours the main character went over her childhood, could easily have been covered in less than 15 min. It needed a lot more intrigue, suspense, and content. I felt like I was listening to a story written for pre-teens.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Authors I enjoy are Susan Mallery, Robyn Carr, Debbie Macomber. Will probably listen to something from one of them.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I'm sure I've heard anything ready by Emily Durante. This reading came across so juvenile. The female characters came across as very weak and dependent. Her reading make them seem like most of the characters (male & female) had no backbone at all. The male characters came across somewhat better, but still seemed weak.

What character would you cut from Forget Me Not?

Not sure any need to be cut. The characters just need a lot more depth.

Any additional comments?

I bought this book when it was on sale, glad I didn't waste a credit. I felt the book was so boring, I speed up the listening speed several times just to get through it. I wish I would have paid more attention to some of the reviews. I've always enjoyed Fern Michaels, but not this one. As previously mentioned there was little suspense or intrigue. Also lacked romance. This book had little to with any building romance between the two supposedly main characters. My advice - don't wast your time or credit.

Too unrealistic

There really is not much depth to the story, Predictable, simplistic and not believable in too many places. Plus what is the title all about?

Good story, AWFUL Narration

It’s such a shame that an author’s good work can be so decimated by terrible narration. Emily Durante is the worst narrator I’ve listened to. If I had to listen to her add a question mark on the end of statements one more time...I recommend this book to be READ, not listened to.

Huh??

What did I just listen to? It's like the author couldn't decide which genre so made a mash up of multiple ones thus failing all in my opinion. Not quite a decent spy novel, a ridiculous romance and the narration was so over the top of what people deem stereotypical NJ accents it was hard to listen to.

Wrong title

Sorry but feel this was definitely the wrong title for this book. The characters also fluctuated too much for me one minute hard and uncaring then the next all mushy. I hated the performance of the parents and well it just seem to far fetched. The narrator just seem wrong for this book. Did some great voices and all but humm just not a good fit. Lucy the main character at the end was so different from the one at the beginning just threw it off.

Voices need attention

Another winner. Great story line. Not keen on voices. Needs male and female voices. Thanks for the awesome audiobook.

Not a fan

The story was full of weird, random, out of no where twists that really only made the story more unrealistic. The writing was also cheesy, especially the dialogue between romantic partners.
