Publisher's summary

Raised in a magnificent Charleston house, Jessie Roland wants for nothing. But as she grows into young adulthood, all she feels is loss and a desperate need to break free from the stifling possessiveness of her parents. Somewhere, in the deepest part of herself, Jessie believes that the world she has always lived in is not the one she came from...or belongs in.

Now, at 19, she has escaped to Washington, DC, where no one knows her, and where she is swept into a whirlwind marriage to a Texas senator's son. But the past will not release Jessie, who is still haunted by a sense of lost happiness, of simple, tender gestures buried in her memory. Only in Luke Holt, a reclusive rancher, will she discover the strength to penetrate the darkness, and find her way back to a place she can call home.

Inaccurate accents and horrible acting

The performance was sophomoric at best The story was ok. As a 5th generation Texan and rancher’s offspring, the inaccuracies drove me crazy.

Storyline was great in the beginning. I didn’t like how it ended. It was anticlimactic and disappointing. Felt like wasted my time.

A Bit Surprised

This is my first Fern Michaels book. This had a good story line, but at times it felt a bit juvenile in their conversations. The narration was a bit brutal - at times sounding almost like AI. The ending really surprised me and a little disappointing.

Wonderful Story

I so enjoyed this book. It is a great story and contains lots of twists and turns. I almost wanted to continue reading it all in one sitting but of course could not. I did take a few hours at the end to finish it. The narrater was very good. It contains romance, mystery, family life, love, etc. The ending left me shedding a few happy tears.

Felt like a school play

I didn’t make it past the first chapter. The book was written like it was for a high school play that you were listening to on the radio. The narrator was like a bad actor. Overly dramatic. The book was written, like I said a high school play. We had to turn it off.

Narration

Could not finish, so poorly written and narration was awful. Don’t waste your credit on this one.

Enraptured!

While I hardly slept because I couldn’t quit listening. I would’ve chose a different ending where Jesse did get together with Duke. I also would’ve liked the other to spend more time explaining the reunion with Jesse/Hannah and her parents. I felt like the ending was rushed. I loved listening to this book.

The ending

I loved this story, the beginning hooked me, I literally cried about Jelly but this ending is beyond disappointing. It seems so unfinished.
