Publisher's Summary

From number-one New York Times best-selling author Fern Michaels comes a brand-new novel that blends her rich, character-driven storytelling with a hint of suspense, as a reclusive young woman struggles to piece her life back together....

Ellie Bowman barely remembers the incident that put her into a coma. When she awoke, filled with unease, all she knew for certain was that her boyfriend, Rick, was missing. She knew she needed to get away from her old life and recover in safety. With the proceeds of a video game she helped develop, Ellie starts over in rural Missouri, working from her cottage and trusting no one except her friend and business partner.

Yet even in this quiet small town, it’s impossible to completely isolate herself. Especially when a curious eight-year-old boy, smitten with Ellie’s pup, stops by every day to talk to him over the fence. Little by little, Ellie is being drawn back into the world through the neighbors and community around her, realizing that everyone has their own fears and obstacles to contend with.

But when Ellie hears that Rick has resurfaced, her nightmares return, and with them, small snippets of memory. No one has heard from Rick since before the incident, so why is he back now? Ellie wants to move forward with her life, but first she must find the courage to look into her past, no matter what she finds there....

Boring

This is probably the most boring book I've ever read. It just rambled on about nothing.....and then it ended. There was no excitement, no suspense, no climax. I kept waiting for it, but then it just ended.

Horrible ending

The ending didn’t explain anything. Left me totally unsatisfied. I usually love Fern Michael’s, liked this book up to the ending. Big disappointment.

please don't waste your $

this is not a normal Fern Michael's book. the story was boring and worse yet Susan Bennett is the worst narrator I have ever listened to a story it's like she's reading something for the first time and she is no emotion I will never listen to any book that she narrates again she's terrible and she doesn't get any better. I finally with 2 hours left after listening to it for three or four hours same thing nothing happening I just deleted the book from my device it was so boring don't waste your money. Fern you can do better if you wrote this it's not even close to any of your best works

No Way Out

Great book with good and believable characters that fit the storyline. It is sooooo different from her usual books but she does a good job with the storyline. You have people who live a a street who know each other and care for one another. One neighbor is hiding out and hasn't left her house in 2 years living in fear, With amnesia. You have an array of circumstances, a hoader who is older, an abuser, you have many issues but Fern Michaels has developed her characters so well it come together. You have a typical 8 year old who likes to play with dogs. You will like Jackson. The plot of the story is twisted enough to maintain interest. I enjoyed this book even though being so different from her normal style.

Stupid story

The summary promised a story with suspense. Too many side stories and no genuine closure on the main story
