Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Normal, Kentucky - where nothing is normal.

It's Labor Day weekend in Normal, and if you know anything about camping and RVing, you know it's one of the busiest times of the year. Unfortunately, Daniel Boone National Park is in danger of being closed due to a drought and local businesses are scrambling for ideas to survive a possible shutdown.

Happy Trails Campground is at the center of a murder in which campers as well as locals are suspects. It looks likely that a local resident is responsible for the dastardly deed since the victim is the one person who had the power to shut down the national park, which would be devastating to Normal's small businesses.

Follow Mae West as she searches for clues to get to the bottom of this Labor Day campground caper!

Fun series!

I’m loving this series! I liked the twists and turns in this one. I was a bit disappointed by the ending. It felt a little anticlimactic. I’m excited to continue this series!

Forests, Fishing, & Forgery

Forests, Fishing, & Forgery by Tonya Kappes
Campers & Criminals book 3. Cozy mystery.
Happy Trails Campground in Normal, Kentucky is booked solid for the Labor Day weekend though a drought threatens the area. A renter disappears and Mae West almost pees on a dead body. She is again in the middle of “helping” investigate.

🎧 I listened to the audio version narrated by Johanna Parker who speaks with an appropriate southern accent for Mae West. I had to speed it up to 1.4 instead of my usual 1.2 to offset the drawl and get to a comfortable speaking speed. I prefer listening over reading for this author because most of the editing errors in print form are hidden.

Fast moving, plenty of twists and a dog about to give birth make this an amusing episode to the series.

I could do without the sexual innuendo

I like cozy mysteries with a clean, engaging style. I could have done without the sexual innuendo and the on and on talk about "peeing". Seriously? Not sure I will purchase from this author again. Disappointing.

Forests, Fishing & Forgery

Mae West is faced with another possible murder of a Park Ranger near her campground, Happy Trails, in Normal, Kentucky. One of her campers is missing & of course she steps into the sleuthing business again. Also, her little Poodle, Fifi is expecting to give birth to 3 little ones any day now. As it turns out the Park Ranger isn’t the only victim involved in this cozy mystery. So as Mae works to put all of the pieces of this puzzle together, she also is forced to decide between which of her two suitors has really captured her heart. I found this to be a fun listen as I tried to keep up with the many twists & turns wound into the this little campground mystery.

Mailed it in

The story never mentions fishing or forgery. The resolution to the murders was hasty and not in line with the rest of the story. The first two of this series were not bad. This one was lazy and dumb.

I also didn’t care for the full absorption of the accent and colloquialisms of the main character after such a short period of time.
