Publisher's Summary

They can run, but hiding isn't in their forte.

After revealing the deception spread by the Galactic Council and the hidden aspects of the System, John Lee and his friends flee the council building on Irvina.

Just escaping the capital planet will tax them to their utmost. Evading the full force of the Galactic Council and their minions might be more than they can handle. While old allies deal with the new truths, friends fracture under the increasing pressure, and all the while, the System Quest hangs over John's head, unfinished.

Their only hope - their only clue - lies in the Forbidden Zone.

The Forbidden Zone is book 11 of the System Apocalypse universe and the penultimate book of the series. The System Apocalypse is a best-selling LitRPG series mixing post-apocalyptic fiction with alien invasions, military science fiction, and fantasy elements with game-like statuses and levels.

just as great of a story as always.

a lot of reviews are complaining about either the constant running and battle. spoiler-ish but really if you're at this point in the story. THE MAIN CHARACTER IS BEING HUNTED so yeah its run run run fight run run fight. it's almost like the entire galaxy is hunting them. so yeah they're on the run. it's the natural progression of the story.

As far as the abuse of the robot, its a robot. Sentient not sapient. it doesn't even have feelings.

also the mc has been in constant battle for over a decade by this point, him not being a battle hardened asshole by this point would just be unrealistic.

First Lack-Luster in the Series...

This is an amazing series, that said you are probably only reading this review and maybe the book because you are also a fan of Tao's work. based on the stars the story gets 2=Ok, it is just that.... Ok.

It's a shame to say this book (Book 11) is all but un-needed. The beginning and end of this book could have easily been distilled into two, maybe one hour(s) and just added to book 10 for a more fulfilling completion to that book.

No spoilers... but all that I really feel this book adds is more leveling a possible component needed for the finally and a more satisfying stopping point for a book.

Save your Credit!

I'm very disappointed in what this series has become, i will wrap up this book and save you time and credit. Run, run, system edit, run, no fighting, run, system edit, no RPG, system edit, has to stop running.

Author just needs to stop.

So, I had practically given up on this series. Yet I listened because I ran out of other series. I finally put the series down this is the final straw. the characters refusal to grow in any positive way, as well as stupid obsession, have finally pushed me away from the series. The true final straw was when the MC added constant child abuse to his repertoire. The MC picks up an android and instead of raising the poor kid he yells at it, tells it to stop talking to him. Finally, he gives no encouragement at the very best times the MC ignores it. At the worst parts he is actively detrimental to the poor thing.

no conclusion

The MC just seems to have turned out to be a dick. no real conclusions just all cliffhanger, it seems like this should be the last book with a couple more chapters. 5 stars because this is an amazing story, but kind of a letdown.

Drab and Uninspired

The book just wastes over 2 thirds of the chapters on boring meaningless details and detours. Hardly anything interesting or important happens. Not worth reading.

A Grind

LitRPG embodies the elements of an RPG; typically this is a good thing. Previous entries in the series have delivered a satisfying progression. This book is a treadmill of a sci-fi space journey; a true grind. Worst book in the series by far. Maybe I’ll finish the series once I give it a rest for a while.

I love all the books of this series

I really really enjoy all the books of this series. I cannot wait for the last one to come out. this one wasn't the best of the series, but it's still a good read

Mediocre ending

This is what happens when the author creates a character that is such an asshole that you don’t like him very much. Whatever emotions you would have felt at his situation at the end, you are like, meh, actually, he deserves that.

I am not talking about his choices, they are fine, but the fact that a few adjustments to his asshole-like personality to make him a little bit more bearable would have made a great difference in the book.

This being said, I made it to book 11 so it’s not exactly a terrible story but it’s not a story that will have you screaming in joy at the end.

I do support the author and I hope he does a better job in his A thousand Li series.
