The characters are interesting and consistent. There's character growth without character assassination.
Bogart has affection for his friends, but never misses the opportunity to hurl insults at anyone that mildly inconveniences him.
Lang seems to have softened towards his "slaves", but still loves to swindle people whenever he has the opportunity.
The story itself... I always prefer something on a smaller scale when it comes to fantasy.
There's a million stories out there with some "world-devouring evil" antagonist- it's a lot more rare to come across a story that deals with something more personal to the protagonists.
I like these characters a lot, and I wish I could see them doing more standard guild quests instead of a "Well, looks like it's time for us to save the world again!" plot.
Maybe next time. I feel like the party is a lot more endearing and relatable when they're not committing themselves to selfless heroism.
I was hesitant to spend a credit at first due to the length, but after considering how much I enjoyed the first book in the series I jumped in. I definitely wasn't disappointed.
After seeing "Life Reset" dragged through the mud over the course of six ~15 hour books, I'm a lot more open to concise storytelling like this.
For the Loot 2 is only ~7 hours, but dense and satisfying.

Like Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, this 2nd installment of the series is both darker and even better than the 1st.
The evil God has got plans that have been in the works for generations and he knows how to manipulate the public.
Out goblin and his gnome-led crew need to have their heads on a swivel to make sure they don't get taken out of the game.
So well written and narrated.
I give this book 8 out of 5 stars.
I need book 3!
