Publisher's summary

Inspector Francis Xavier Flynn, also known as international superspy N. N. 13, returns in this final book of the intelligently written, scintillating series by best-selling author Gregory Mcdonald.

Severely lacking in sleep from a recent bout of marathon investigative work, all Flynn wants is a proper night's rest. Unfortunately, at the early morning summons of his frantic daughter, he's off to the cemetery to rescue her young friend who's in quite a peculiar bind. And as the day progresses, a curious collection of puzzling cases fall into Flynn's lap, each one stranger and more urgent than the last.

As Flynn plunges into harm's way in pursuit of the truth, buried secrets and dark motives come to light as he races to solve each crime and bring these seemingly disconnected matters to a full and complete case closed.

Mr. McDonald channels George Will

I used to love these books as a kid, and this was the first I had read in decades. It turns out to be another dumb screed against academia. Mr. McDonald did some deep research -- that is, he read some culture-war screeds in the newspaper -- and is sorry to have to inform us that Universities are teaching our children nothing but relativism and a hatred of "white males."

Pretty mediocre

I like the idea of Flynn, I like his family, I like how he is with his family - but really, supporting a guy in nailing a kid's ear to a tree! Forget it - this is just weird and not funny and not noble and not worth it.

Charming, exceptional, character-driven mysteries

This series has it all -- truly exceptionally well written plotting, incredibly addictive characters, fun family vignettes, police procedures, mysteries inside of mysteries, satisfying conclusions, a sprinkling of the most insightful human perspectives, a dash of philosophical adage in an Irish brogue .... and speaking of the narration, five big shiney stars to Donald Corren for the melage of accents, brogue, and New Jersey twangs ... the author and narrator are a perfect match.

Flynn Goes To Harvard

My love affair with Flynn continues as I listen to his whimsical novels as a true fun diversion from the hard core mystery and geo-political novels that usually fill my ears.

As this one begins, Gruber, Flynn's appointed police sidekick thinks he finally has the goods on him. Gruber is the nickname that Flynn calls him and he hates it. With all his gathered evidence of misdeeds with him, Gruber thinks he finally has what it takes to get Flynn fired. Of course, dear listener, that does not happen and it is just pure fun listening to the fumbling going on as a result.

The main story centers around Flynn being called to the office of the President of Harvard to investigate why one of his tenured professors is being threatened. As per usual, Flynn figures it all out with a satisfying flourish as the novel ends.

Donald Corren, once again, does a terrific job narrating delivering the irish brogue of Flynn with great style. The Flynn novels are not that long, typically five hours or so, making them just right for a fun read.

A good closer but with a axe to grind

A good mystery even with one character who became a heavy handed attempt at satire. Sadly we can not see how the relationship between Flynn and Grover will go. Over All I stalled less with The Flynn Series then the Fletch series

Shouldn't be the last.

A bit of a plea for a previous generation and their world view. Truth, Justice, and Fair Play in the form of Francis Xavier Flynn.

Refreshingly candid, funny!

Mt first exposure to the Flynn series has got me hooked! It’s a refreshingly candid expose of modern morals - even more pertinent today than when it was written almost 20 years ago! There’s lots of humor, realistic characters and they narration performance is superb!

The narrator is believable and the storylines are interesting and the best part is I can walk while Reading/listening to them.

Rare and Wonderful book.

Gregory McDonald tackles America’s current complicated cultural issues. He does so with warmth, humor and intelligence.
Flynn is my new favorite character. I already love him.
I hope this is a new series. I do wish the novel was 10 hours rather than 5.
More more more of Flynn.

Struggled a bit!!

Stuck with the familiarity with son of fletch, a little too similar but at the end it did have its side characters and twists. clever but getting there was such a task! Wouldn't recommend to anyone else except an absolute Flynn devotee. It hasn't made me miss more Flynn books fortunately:-) was already missing Fletch too much
