    Nov 9 2023

Andrew Lord is a renegade school teacher turned life-coach and lifestyle entrepreneur who is committed to helping men and women dream bigger and shine brighter as they seek to make the world a better place.

He is happily married to Sofia and the proud dad of 5 beautiful children - his greatest treasures.

Andrew is always thinking outside the box and is on a mission to co-create 'impact-driven success stories’. He is consistently stretching the boundaries of what most people call ‘education’ and challenges common dehumanising practices and structures, supporting  schools and organisations to create warm, authentic communities instead.

ABOUT ANDREW'S BOOK - THRIVE BY DESIGN

How is it that some people find their place in the world and make a positive difference, whilst others stay stuck in unfulfilled obscurity?

Andrew Lord, a renegade schoolteacher turned lifestyle design coach has been helping parents and professionals to think bigger, live bolder, and shine brighter for more than 20 years.

In THRIVE BY DESIGN you will embark on a personal discovery adventure using his proven process to learn who you are, how you think, what you want, and why it matters.

  • Episode 23 - Mike Johnson: Fireside Audio Executive Producer
    Jul 13 2023

On this episode of Flock Talk, we dive into the world of audiobook production and explore the technique of "punch and roll." Our guest, Mike Johnson, shares insights on this recording method used to fix mistakes and interruptions during the process. We discuss how this technique ensures a smoother and cleaner audio for the producer, tackling errors, background noises, and even distractions like a dog licking itself.

In addition, we explore the process of audiobook production through Fireside, a publishing company that works closely with authors. Mike takes us through the steps, from authors submitting their books to selecting a narrator and the recording process followed by post-production. We also discuss the relationship between Fireside and authors, their collaboration on marketing efforts, and the debate within the industry about whether narrators should spend time promoting the books they've worked on.

During the episode, we also touch on the exciting genre of LitRPG, a literary role-playing game genre that has gained popularity in recent years. We draw comparisons to the concept in the movie "Ready Player One" and discuss well-known examples like the anime "Sword Art Online."

But it's not all about the technicalities of audiobook production. We take a break to explore the unique and entertaining music group, "Here Come the Mummies," a ten-piece funk band that dresses up as mummies. Their fun and energetic performances at smaller venues like the House of Blues add to the lively atmosphere.

Finally, we delve into the behind-the-scenes aspects of audiobook production. Mike shares his experiences with audition samples, the importance of clean audio, and the challenges of dealing with edited or processed recordings. We also discuss the role of the editor and the delicate balance between providing guidance to narrators while respecting the author's vision for the characters.

Join us on this episode of Flock Talk as we unravel the world of audiobook production, explore the dynamic genre of LitRPG, and discover the secrets behind delivering high-quality audio.

Flock Talk #1

This is a great podcast. It was short and quick. It had a great first introduction look into PFP. Can’t wait to see who will be on here next.

Fantastic Podcast! Interesting & Entertaining!

This is a fantastic first episode of "Flock Talk", hosted by Craig Hart and Sara Hannan, who are personable, entertaining and easy to listen to. And who else would be the perfect guest for their inaugural episode but the CEO of Pink Flamingo Productions, Sarah Puckett and the subject is what we all love, audiobooks and touching on AI. I agree and am with them with their great points and perspectives.
