Publisher's summary

The Iron Prince will claim his crown.

Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting.

After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived.

Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers. Squaring off with some of the best Users in the Astra System, they're going to have to put everything they have—as individuals and as a team—into their coming fights if they want to ultimately end up standing at the top. As ever, though, their journey is hardly bound to be a smooth one.

Especially not when Rei and Aria begin to suspect that Shido may be even more formidable than it appears, much less as the powerful entities who've already taken notice of the 'Iron Prince of Galens' begin to make their moves, some casting their hands in his favor, others very much against…

Good then great

Some what disappointing, but then it gets good again. Main characters drama is annoying, but it passes in a couple hours or torture.

Awful Narration

Story is decently fun. Yes, it's a Gary Sue series. The 1st line of the description of Book 1 is, "MC will become a god," so ignore people complaining about that 2 books in. The narrator constantly loses accents mid-sentence, which is weird because he has about 4 in his toolkit. The greater issue is HOW the narrator chooses to enunciate and draw out every bit of dialogue. At times it honestly sounds like Will Shatner auditioning to play Ace Ventura. Every syllable is hit for maximum emphasis and theres about 2 dramatic pauses per word a character says. Good dialogue becomes cringey, and bad dialogue will make you want to throw your phone. The way the narrator decides to have characters simply say, "okay," would make a CW series sound Oscar worthy.

Excellent series, Great character development

I obsoletely love a good underdog story, The characters in this story certainly seem to be mature well beyond their years, They would certainly be exception I think in most people that age as they all show a great amount of emotional maturity, that I certainly never had at that age and can certainly look back and wish I did.
There book isn't just entertaining, but also holds a good amount of life lessons and values all while keeping you wanting to read more to find out what happens.
I do like the hints in every new chapter where they have an interview or read a quote from someone and it hints how far in future they are looking back how things were when everyone was still in school. It's just enough to let you know Raiden goes on to continue to make a name for himself.
Hope book three doesn't take as long to come out, but the wait was worth it.

one of the best books out there

Grabs hold of you immediately. The start of the chapter has a quote related to it and makes it so addicting and leaves you anticipating more. I was so stoked for book 2 and it didnt disappoint. I am going to be depressed waiting for book 3 to come out for a while. I also listened to book 1 3 times at least.

Hmm

To be completely honest I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anybody. Though one thing that I didn’t like about this one compared to the first book is that it isn’t as balanced with its progression towards the actual story.

i do enjoy a good power leveling story. i never knew till this series and a few other series by other authors. this is a good solid idea and the world is pretty well thought out. i just hope we get the next installment with less waiting time in between. i hate cliffhangers.. don't know if ill........

Never mind the haters

I personally loved how the story picked up so smoothly from the first book, it ends with the cute cliffhanger of a promised date and we come back to the couple going out on their first date. For the continuity alone I could give three stars since most litrpg would just skip over this little piece and go straight to the training montage only to mention later..."Oh yeah, I really enjoyed our date, we should do that again sometime lol." and just move on. I was cheering for those two characters and their utter marshmallow based love right from the start, way too cute. As for the pacing, for what the story was trying to convey I felt the pacing was correct, we were not solely supposed to be just following the sectionals after all, we were being introduced to the new possible 'feature' of Shido boosting not only the advancement rate but the skill acquisition of those C.A.D.S. it interacts with on a regular basis. I am interested to see how the Grant story continues, it sounds as if they are truly trying to portray mental blockages and emotional damage as genuinely as can be expected. However, anyone with emotional or mental damage/blockages can tell you that it is not as quick as a snap of the fingers and boom, done. So I honestly look forward to seeing how the story progresses. The other stories going on around them feel a little bit like they are diluting the story, at least a little anyway. I mean I now understand the motivations of the background characters a little more, but what good does that do us as the audience? Either way we are dealing with the military here, orders are orders or be court marshalled, or you know, retire. While interesting, I just can't see the value, and even if some of these characters have to reveal their true intentions later we can get the reasoning for their decision later. All in all I thought this an excellent continuation of the story, and very well placed world building and plot expansion, though I do wish I had seen more movement from Kamia, but that is just a wish for more 'fluff' as so many others like to point out I suppose.
