Leonard Land, a computer genius and a multi-personality maniac, is systematically murdering women. Wired to the cyberpunk subculture of Death Metal and Satan worship, he shifts personalities from The Rat - smart and cunning - to The Wind Minstrel - God and the Devil. Renegade U.S. Customs Service agent John Lockwood teams up with Chicano master hacker Malavida Chacone and stunning forensic criminologist Karen "Awesome" Dawson to track the deranged genius. The trail leads them deep into the Florida swamps, and when Land discovers that they have infiltrated his computer programs, the hunters become the hunted.©1996 by Stephen J. I listened to this audio book back in the 90’s. Bought it from a convenience store for my hour commute to work. Loved it then and still love it now. Great story line suspenseful, sad and joyful all at the same time.

Great Book

I did enjoy, but felt the story was not what I had come to elect from Cannell. However, Cannell does a great job on the narrative. He makes the story come together. It makes for a good read. See what you think. Enjoy

Not as good as the others

Clever, horrifying and touching, Stephen Cannell elicits a rollercoaster of emotion in this outstanding book. The narration is excellent and maintains the pace throughout. This was one book I could not put down - finally turned off my iPod at 3.30 am in order to get some sleep. For anyone who enjoys the mystery/thriller genre this is a must!

Would you listen to Final Victim again? Why?

Good story, great performance.

What about Stephen J. Cannell’s performance did you like?

I usually shy away from books read by the author. They may be great writers, but they are usually lousy readers. Cannell is the exception. He can write AND he breathes life into his writing when he reads.

Good read

I read this book quite a long time ago and enjoyed it. I preemptively used my credit on this audio book and was thoroughly disappointed with it. The audio is very old which is understandable but the book is heavily abridged and misses so many things that I felt were important to the story and just gave it more overall character. I would definitely stick to reading this one and stay away from the abridged audio version.

Wonderful book, not so good audio book
