Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Kristen Ashley comes the new book in her River Rain series, Fighting the Pull.

Hale Wheeler inherited billions from his father. He’s decided to take those resources and change the world for the better. He’s married to his mission, so he doesn’t have time for love.

There’s more lurking behind this decision. He hasn’t faced the tragic loss of his father, or the bitterness of his parents’ divorce. He doesn’t intend to follow in his father’s footsteps, breaking a woman’s heart in a way it will never mend. So he vows he’ll never marry.

But Hale is intrigued when he meets Elsa Cohen, the ambitious celebrity news journalist who has been reporting on his famous family. He warns her off, but she makes him a deal. She’ll pull back in exchange for an exclusive interview.

Elsa Cohen is married to her career, but she wants love, marriage, children. She also wants the impossibly handsome, fiercely loyal, tenderhearted Hale Wheeler.

They go head-to-head, both denying why there are fireworks every time they meet. But once they understand their undeniable attraction, Elsa can’t help but fall for the dynamic do-gooder.

As for Hale, he knows he needs to fight the pull of the beautiful, bold, loving Elsa Cohen, because breaking her would crush him.

Another great KA story

My favorite in the River Rain series I think - but I’ll likely want to reread the others to be sure!

She Does It Again!

Stunning addition to the series. Just keeps getting better and better. And Corey is the best anti-hero; he’s becoming one of my favorite characters. Ashley does an excellent job portraying the mixed bag of emotions Hale feels, and the conflict there in. Can’t wait for the next book and more of Reese Vaughn’s role in it.

Lordy, I love Kristen Ashley novels!

This installment of the River Rain series is awesome as I expected it to be. A new Kristen Ashley book always comes with the understanding that I will be a slave to Audible until 'the end". I love these characters. Each time I think I would love to start the entire series again to just savor the characters and experience again the progression of the story. I'm always so impressed with how Kristen can invent so many variations of stories and themes. I could live my entire life reading (listening to) Kristen Ashley books..they are all that good!!!'

Always Kristen Ashley

The only think I didn’t care for about this audiobook was the over enunciation of the make narrator. It was, for me, a disruption. It sounded unnatural.

Loved it!

I wasn't sure I would like the story of Elsa and Hale, but I absolutely loved it. I have heard these narrators before and they are quite good. I initially had to let go of the previous characters I mostly associated with their voices. The story is amazing, I wish we had the facts from the box in earlier stories but it was an oh wow moment when they opened the box.

Hale was a tortured soul.

I love this I only took issue with some of the pronunciations. The story its self was great. I really didn’t think I could like Elsa but she is one of my favorites now

Nice to get Hale’s story

I liked this one. It had moments of the “old” KA. Yes, there’s still a bit of her recent penchant for preachy wokeness and the seemingly obligatory misuse of the word INFERRED where the correct word is IMPLIED (shame on her editors who let this embarrassing grammatical error get by them at least once in almost every book this NYT Bestselling Author has ever written).

However, when you get past that, you have a classic KA novel. The characters are layered and interesting, and you care about them and want to see them overcome their obstacles and find happiness. I liked this one a little better than the ones prior. Again, I think that’s because her “voice” reminds me more of what it was like in the Colorado Mountain, ‘Burg and Rock Chick days which is when I began to love her books.

Great Addition

I love this series and appreciate Hale and Elsa’s story more than expected. We humans are complicated and this telling does a good job of peeling and revealing layers. I like how this came together.

Always nice to revisit old characters too but with the way my brain works, i have a hard time keeping up with so many different people.
