Their parents being family friends, American/English aristocrat, Blake Sharp, and Scottish playboy Alasdair Wallace were thrust together all through their childhoods.
Blake thought Dair was a filthy, obnoxious, little boy bully.
Dair thought Blake was a spoiled, prissy wee miss.
Then Blake grew up to be a beautiful, loving woman who took care of everyone and made amazing pistachio muffins. And Dair grew up to be a protective, fun-loving, hard-living professional rugby player.
In the meantime, they’d both been deeply betrayed by lovers.
When their paths cross again, Blake is still reeling from her fiancé’s treachery and what she learned about herself during it.
Dair thinks he’s recovered from a marriage to a woman who was not at all what she seemed, and now he’s smitten by the woman Blake has become.
So smitten, he has every intention of exploring what they can grow to be together.
But their combined family history is filled with secrets and lies. Secrets and lies that explode in their faces.
And while they deal with that, ghosts from the past rise up and threaten to haunt their future.
Is what they built together strong enough to hold true?
Or will their personal demons tear them apart?

This book gave me all the feels, sass, spice, and a Scotsman who knows how to make an entrance. Dair and Blake have been circling each other since childhood thanks to their parents’ friendship, but they never vibed, until Blake’s sister’s wedding flips the script.💃💍
Suddenly, they’re seeing each other in a whole new light, and it’s delicious.
Dair? Total dreamboat. Confident, charming, and straight-up swoon-worthy.😍 He sees Blake for who she really is and doesn’t hesitate to dive in.
Blake’s been through it trauma, judgment, and a reputation that follows her like a shadow. But she’s cheeky, headstrong, and has layers that Dair peels back with care and heat.🔥
And speaking of heat, whew.🌶😳 These two light up the sheets like it’s their full-time job. The spice is intense, but it’s balanced with real emotion.
There’s grief, healing, and a twist that lets the River Rain crew show up and show out. Found family vibes.💖
Hale, still obsessed. Just saying. While the plot leaned heavily on the parental drama, the pacing was smooth, and the emotional payoff was worth it.
🎧 And let me tell you, Alexander Dunham-Wood and Tillie Hooper were perfectly cast for these characters. Their narration brought Dair and Blake to life with depth, sass, and soul. Total ear candy.
If you’re into second chances, sizzling chemistry, and a heroine who’s got bite, this one’s for you.💋📚

Read if you like: ✈️ childhood enemies · 👩❤️👨 redemption arcs · 🍀 Scottish heroes · 🥐 family drama with secrets · 💍 second chances
📚 Blake Sharp and Alasdair “Dair” Wallace grew up side by side—her the polished aristocrat, him the mischievous Scottish boy who teased her endlessly. Now adults, both scarred by betrayal, they reconnect at Blake’s sister’s wedding. What starts as old banter quickly turns into something deeper… until long-buried family secrets threaten to unravel it all.
👨👧 Blake, once the spoiled, prickly “mean girl” of this series, shines in her redemption arc. We see her growth, her loyalty to family, and her vulnerability after heartbreak. Dair, the protective rugby player with charm and depth, balances her sharp edges with humor and steadfast devotion.
💞 Their romance is classic Kristen Ashley—intense, emotional, and fast-moving. They’re together fairly quickly, but the real journey is watching them fight side by side against the ghosts of their pasts. Expect playful banter, passionate chemistry, and the kind of love that feels healing.
👧 The side characters are plentiful (especially if you’ve read the rest of the series). Familiar faces return, adding richness and a sense of community. Family drama is everywhere—messy weddings, difficult parents, and fractured sibling bonds.
✍️ Kristen Ashley’s signature voice is all over this book: heartfelt, immersive, and unafraid to dig into messy family dynamics. The Scottish accent in Dair’s dialogue adds charm—I loved it, though some readers may find it distracting "I know" is "ah ken". The audiobook narration by Alexander Dunham-Wood & Tillie Hooper brought even more emotion to the story.
🌟 Overall, Finding the One is an emotional, layered romance that turns a former “villain” into a heroine you can root for. It’s heartfelt, dramatic, and will leave you both smiling and teary-eyed. Kristen Ashley delivers another wonderful love story full of second chances and family chaos.
An emotional, layered romance
