Adam and I are both going through identity crises of epic proportions as we transition from who we were and discover who we were meant to be. More Fae are dying, and I feel as if time is running out for us to find all of those responsible and put an end to the killings. The people I thought I could trust have betrayed me, and the one person I should absolutely not trust is taking me deeper and deeper into his world.

Story
When everything is on the line, how far will you go to protect those you love? What if the cost of saving them is your soul? Would you pay it? I thought I was prepared for what was coming; that if I made sacrifices, I could win this game. I’m no longer afraid of the darkness or the monsters that hide in the shadows. I’ve become what I feared most, allowing it in to protect those I loved. Sometimes it takes a monster to win. Sometimes to fight monsters, you have to become one. My only fear is…can I come back from it?

Story
Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she's been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she's received. Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear. Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He's a man who can get you anything you want...at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for one client, he's never asked for repayment. Not until now.

Story
When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed. Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him. And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

Some people are ordained for greatness. Those people usually have a lot of drama in their life. Drama I happily do without. I live in a forgotten corner of nowhere for a reason: there is safety in anonymity. I have enough problems just trying to get by. But when Kieran, a sinfully sexy demigod at the pinnacle of power, crashes into my life, suddenly my whole world is turned upside down. He’s harboring a deadly secret, one that could destroy all he holds dear. He thinks I’m the key to his salvation, and he wants me to help him claim vengeance. He also wants me with a passion.

Publisher's Summary
Have you ever heard of the old Celtic legends of the Fae - beautiful, magical, deadly, and a love of messing with humans just for kicks and giggles?
Welcome to my world.
What started out as a strange assignment leads to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries of our time, and my friends and I are set and determined to find out who is killing off Fae and Witches alike.
Couple of problems in the way - I hate the Fae, and the Prince of the Dark Fae is bound and determined that I work for him. He’s a rude, overbearing, egotistical ass with a compulsive need to possess, dominate, and control me. Oh - did I mention that he is absolutely sex-on-a-stick gorgeous and he makes me feel things that I never ever wanted to feel for a Fae.... Every time he touches me or looks at me with those golden eyes, he seems to pull me further in under his spell, despite my better judgment.
My friends and I can’t trust anyone, and nothing is as it seems on the surface - not even me.
Warning: Mature content and language not intended for anyone under the age of 18.
This audiobook is not intended for anyone under the age of 18, or anyone who doesn't like lip biting, throw-your-ass-on-the-bed, tear-your-clothes-off-and-leave-you-panting dominant alpha male characters. This is a dark, dangerous, intense, gritty, and raw audiobook. Scenes are dark, disturbing, and scorching-hot. This is a soul-crushing, tear-jerking, and leave-you-hanging-on-the-edge-of-your-seat fast-paced audiobook. Side effects may include, but are not limited to: drooling, lip biting, wet panties, crying, and screaming at the author. If any of these things happen, do not seek medical attention - get the next book in the series and enjoy the ride!

If you're new to Amelia Hutchins, then you're in for a wild ride! If you're like me and have been wait anxiously for this series to hit audible, it's been worth wait. Love, Love, LOVED IT! The world building, characters, secondary (for now) characters are just breath-taking! Alpha males everywhere! Strong heroines, gripping story and the best part...this is only book one! I'm like a damn crack addict when it comes to the Fae Chronicles, I can't get enough.
Worth the credit? Hot damn! It's worth two!

I need more!! I’m MOURNING the lack of the next book on audible.
The story took a little longer to hook me. The author reiterates things a little too often. The narrator is a smidge too monotone but she is good. I’d give her 4.5 stars if I could. And the guy narrator... he is a 5 star all the way!
I am completely in love with the characters. It’s a lot of steamy build-up for the two hottest scenes. There is true loss, twists and suspense!
Admittedly, I tear up if I’m really attached to the characters. And I did for this book.
I went to download the next one, even prepared to buy the 3 credit bundle if need be... but it’s not available!!!! I’m bereft. I need to finish this book and I am so spoiled with audible that reading actual books isn’t usually an option. But I will be buying h some paperbacks.
Please continue the audiobooks! I will buy them too. (Same narrators PLEASE!)

This book was so amazing. I love PNR and am now a fan of the talented Amelia’s. Loved Ryder and Cin. This book was super hot!! My ears almost caught on fire. So intense, action, mystery, drama, death, panty melting goodness. Both Sarah and Stephen did an absolutely amazing job narrating! They brought the characters to life.

I LOVed It!
I loved this story!!! This is paranormal at it finest! The story was intriguing. The characters were fun, sexy and wonderful. Not to mention the action! It is full of it! From the beginning I was entranced to the ending it was filled with action, lust, murder and mayhem. My issue with this book is it ends on a cliffhanger. That just frustrates me. The book is so good I would have easily wanted to see what trouble these guys were going to fall into next. Cliffhanger not needed.
I did listen to this on audio. Sarah Puckett and Stephen Dexter did the narration. They both did a good job but Sarah delivers 99%of the book

Exciting start to the Fae Chronicles
I’m just getting to this audiobook and found it in my long TBL.
It’s an amazing, fast paced story of Cynthia who thinks she is a witch finding herself along the way and doing so with a alpha Fae prince Ryder taking her along on an exciting trip of who done it situation and who is who thrilling book. I’m loving this BUT it ends here and they are many books in the series with only this first one on Audible😳. This is like hanging a carrot in front of a rabbit and then holding-it from the rabbit indefinitely. Aghast over that. Thankfully I was gifted this audiobook and will just need to put it away until there’s more audiobooks available. I was desperate and even looked into the books but they are expensive so I’m going to try waiting for the audiobooks.
Narration was spot on. Sarah showcases Cynthia or Cyn as one bad ass fighter who stands up for what she believes in and does the males really well also. Stephen Dexter was new to me and I try found his gruff and take no sh*t attitude come through really well for Ryder. Just wish the next books were available 🥺

Sooo Good!! Need more Ryder!
I absolutely loved every single minute of this audiobook, it was exciting, adventurous, steamy and chock full of twists and turns. Both the plot and the characters were perfectly developed. Synthia is a remarkable heroine; she is smart, independent, crazy fierce with remarkable abilities. Ryder is a true alpha male, super hot, dominant, powerful, and cunning. Ryder and Syn are marvellous together, their chemistry is off the charts and utterly potent. Both characters have a stubborn streak and know how to get under each other's skin.
Amelia Hutchins is an exceptional storyteller with a brilliant imagination and the ability to enthral her readers. She has created a fantastic world of Fae, witches, and magic. Hutchins writes incredible steamy scenes, they are wicked and scorching-hot.
The narration by Sarah Puckett and Stephen Dexter was great. Most of the narration was done by Sarah Puckett. I enjoyed her performance; she injected emotion into her reading and giving life to the characters. Stephen Dexter has a deep masculine voice and his performance as Ryder is crazy good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and eagerly anticipating the release of the second book. I highly recommend Fighting Destiny. This is the best Fae book I've read or listened to in a very long time. Lastly, heed the warnings, this book is gritty, dark, sweltering and completely on fire.

I lost brain cells reading this
First off, this book had loads of promise and a great idea behind it. A witch with a flood backstory, a murder with an intriguing plot, and a really fun ghost scene in a cemetery with some arguable taste in music selection. Fine. I’m on board.
Then the flaws in the authors appalling writing style begin to seep through the cracks. It feels as if the author had an idea where she wanted the plot to go, and no idea how to get there. At all.
Plotlines are created out of thin air, picked up for five minutes, then forgotten and never picked back up again. The main character, our heroine, regularly is referred to as a powerful capable woman in dialogue, while The characters actions consistently prove otherwise. Unfortunately, just because the text states a heroin is strong, that does not make her so. And when this contract is put forward in the plot, not only does it not make any sense as to why it is introduced, but it also needlessly complicates the relationship of our two main characters. Constantly, I hear “you can’t make me do that “and our dark and pretty bad guy saying I can do anything I want. “Apparently this is supposed to build sexual tension, but all it did was make me permanently roll my eyes. I think they’re still stuck in the back of my head. The amount of times success talked about in this book, it is actually impressive how much of a turn off it manages to be. I have never read a book that talks about sex so much while managing to be the least hot read. The characters all commit actions that are seemingly good ideas for the plot of the book, but make no sense with the character they are trying to build. Spoilers ahead: for instance when we find out our main character has lost her old boyfriend due to her ego in a fight several years before, it builds lovely backstory and cornerstone for our heroin. I really liked this addition to the book, until they went and ruined it with him actually being alive for the past three years not even halfway through the book. They weekly give the reasoning behind Adrians reappearance to be, “I didn’t want to hurt you during my transition.” This plotline is made to be overdramatic and then it’s constantly dropped and easily forgiven it seems. I could go on but this review was very long and quite messy. Just don’t read it.

OMG Soooo Good!
This was one of the best PNR book i have listen to all year. Synthia's powers are off the charts. Ryder is a fae that is more than what he seems. Together they are explosive and extremely sexual, that makes for a wonderful combination. If you love PNR this is a must have. I adore Sarah Puckett and Stephen Dexter narrating these characters. Can't wait to hear them read book 2.

Paranormal Romance with an actual storyline
Overall: I enjoyed it and finished the almost 13 hours in 3 days. I'm going to go get the next book now.
Story: A good story that does end on a cliffhanger. Decent worldbuilding and various interesting situations that the characters end up in while attempting to solve the main problem. There are some gory, sad, and violent scenes, so this isn't a 'feel-good' romance but is closer to a fantasy novel. There is a decent level of good steam without the steam being more important than the actual story.
Characters: The main character (Synthia) has an actual backstory that influences her decisions and there is character development in this paranormal romance! (WOOHOO!) Synthia is one of those 'tortured' heroines and is rather likeable. She doesn't need rescuing. Ryder is someone who you can't decide if you want to hate or love. There are quite a few unanswered questions about their backstories even when the book ends.
Narrators: As usual, I really enjoy Sarah Puckett. I actually chose this audiobook partly because it was just Sarah Puckett who was the main female narrator. Stephen Dexter was better than usual; he spoke at a decent speed and mostly only had to keep track of one character. Sarah Puckett could have done the entire audiobook and it would likely have been better and more consistent.

Somewhat new to audiobooks so started with an author I knew I liked.
I really enjoyed the story, it was exciting and unpredictable. The narrators were fantastic, vocal tone and expression was always obvious.
An enjoyable listening experience.

holy smoke!!!!
first listen for me and whoa shut the front door. this is awesome. to mix modern day with paranormal and do it well is pretty spectacular. my only sad thing is I have to wait for audible to Bring in the rest of the chronicles....and seeing as this one ended on a cliffhanger.....aargh!!!
it's telling tales within tales and secrets within secrets and discoveries within discoveries.
Ryder is smoking hot and the sexy parts of the book are steamy!!!!
as for the alpha sex on a stick fae men, panty melting just doesn't seem to cut it when describing them...in fact demons and vamps alike...woooweeeee.
syn is sass with a capital S and is definitely STRONG
if I want to stay in the same vein I have to skip fwd to the monsters trilogy. I thought I'd listen to this one first to get a baseline on what everything inside the paranormal was, I'm probably spoiling it for myself as I'll find things out from the fae chronicles, but half the fun is knowing how it gets there 😉😉😉

Average
I downloaded based on the relatively high ratings but I couldnt not get into the story properly because of the way the story was read aloud. I am interested in the story and had hopes for this audiobook. just that the audio seemed too monotonous? maybe even robotic, which makes the seemingly exciting parts, not as exciting in my opinion.

After listening to the first one I instantly brought the next two and can't wait for the next. Some parts of all the books were a little repetitive but otherwise good.

Brilliant
This is the story of Synthia, her coven of Adam and Larissa and Ryder the Dark Prince of the Fae. Nothing is what it seems and a lot of characters have very well hidden secrets, add to that the fact that there is an attraction between Syn and Ryder that both are having trouble fighting and things get extremely steamy, to say they burn up the sheets is an understatement. The story is intense, raw, disturbing and so hot it’s not funny, I was drooling at one point and read another review that said you would be lip biting and have wet panties, they weren’t wrong. The only cure really could be book two lol. And all this is going on amongst death and destruction on a huge scale, I wanted to scream with the anticipation at times and not only in wanting to know who was doing all the killing but waiting for the culmination of the sexual chemistry between Syn and Ryder and just wow when it came!

Hooked!
I do feel like the writing could be more sophisticated and the voice of Ryder is not very appealing however I am head over heels with the relationships and storyline in this series.
