loved it

I enjoyed this book a lot. there's some life-changing information here. Be bold in your conversations and direct with people. I didn't enjoy the author's voice at first but got used to it very quickly. The end of the book drags a little bit but the information is just fantastic.

Insightful and thought provoking book

I found this book to be a great source of thought provoking ideas, actions and insights. I like the beachball concept - it has helped me become more thoughtful in dealing with people who operate very specifically in certain functions. They often have a very specific and focused view. Understanding that view can really enhance the dialog possible with them.

Overall just taking a new perspective on conversations as described here has been extremely helpful in improving my overall relationships in every aspect of my life.

Unfortunately Slow and very long

I was able to listen to this on 1.95x speed... the tone of voice was also draggy sounding and not welcoming or friendly. which might if been intentional? I wanted to get so much out of this book so I kept going to the end. Didnt throw the baby out with the bath water. There are some great points she makes. Everything might if been better if it was more condensed. will probably go back and listen to "The Chapter 4" again at some point.

Only Wish I'd Gotten It Sooner

It took me FOUR YEARS to finally listen to the repeated recommendations that I get this book. After all, who wants to have FIERCE conversations? That just sounded so unpleasant.
Fast forward a couple years, and I had the unpleasant ongoing experience of conversations that would go nowhere at work, and end up very heated. Misunderstandings ran high and frequent, and interactions were avoided as they had become a intolerable. I was encouraged - again - to get the book because "it will allow you to have the conversations you HAVE to have", I was told. I broke down and got the book.
Now I've always thought it "takes two" in any relationship. This book has shown me that even without another's cooperation, progress CAN still be made by following the principles taught here. It is the single BEST book I've ever read that provides a true foundation for communication success in both work and personal life. I've now recommended and shared it many times, and am on my FOURTH reading of the book! I'm also experiencing fantastic opportunities for change and growth in my work life. I recommend this book HIGHLY.

You’re not having conversations until you’re having FIERCE CONVERSATIONS

This book is absolutely incredible. The way in which the author Susan weaves anecdotal stories of her life throughout this profound book to make even more profound points based on her team’s coaching approach is phenomenal, real, sobering.

If you take nothing else away from this book, take away the Mineral Rights approach to having perceived difficult conversations. Everyone should be asking themselves, in EVERY situation, “What are you pretending not to know?”.
