Pleasant!

Any additional comments?

This is a pleasant enough novel. It didn't really go anywhere though and was predictable. In the last few chapters, I was just wanting to get to the end, so I could move on to the next book, rather than care about what happened (never a good thing). I suppose that was due to it being a bit bland by then. Its worth noting that if I don't enjoy a book, I usually just discard it and move on. I didn't in this case because the characters were pleasent enough and I expected more to happen.

A Great Listen

Yet another delightful book by Lucy. She has this fantastic ability of seamlessly entwining her characters lives together without you really noticing. I wasn't sure about the narrator at the beginning but I quickly decided that she brought the book to life gently and effortlessly. Being laid up with a bad back I found the narration rather soothing and the story line, whilst a little predictable in places, was still a great listen. As I expected fabulous characters brought to life by Lucy, I can visualise them all! If your looking for a way to chillax and unwind I would certainly recommend finding a comfy chair, putting in your earphones, closing your eyes and then just listen. Perfect 😃

Very entertaining

Would you listen to The Year of Taking Chances again? Why?

If you like books that end with "The love of my life", this is for you. A classic chick lit and a great entertaining read for the summer. Not too much romance and a great deal of entrepreneurship. Throw in some fashion, a celebrity, a husband and an ex and it's a perfect mix. Will never read fortune cookies the same way again.

Absolutely Average Chit Lit

This audio book is very easy on the ears. I guess it would be perfect for listening on the beach or by the pool. It certainly doesn't ask anything of the listener and gives very little in return.
I will not be seeking anything else from this author or narrator.

I can't bare any more of it.. it's so lame !!!

I've made it to chapter 6...but I am giving up. Pretty early on i thought.."oh no is this chic lit??" ...and it is.I am not a chic lit reader at all, I find them too obvious, predictable and full of cliches. I didn't realise this was chic lit otherwise I'd have avoided it. Part of me wants to find out what happens but there are over 30 chapters in total and I am not willing to listen to the narrator for that long. It's as though she is being given the book one word at a time . There will be too long a pause and then she will finish off a sentence as though it's a new sentence. Not for me I'm afraid. I wish I did like this sort of thing .I am no writer myself and books like this make me cringe as they sound like my attempts to write a story when I was 15.I don't even think I'd enjoy reading this, it's not just the narration. Probably great if this is the sort of books you read but it's just not for me.

Pretty vacuous

If you're looking for some "chick lit" and like that sort of thing you will enjoy this. No depth and you can see what's going to happen all the way through. Don't bother.

Hard to follow

Depressing story, bland narrator, jumps all around. Tried to listen to it several times but gave up.

Too much sadness

I couldn't finish listening to it. It was all about a woman's misery and things that kept going wrong with her life and everyone elses. A depressing book. The narrator was quite good.
