Publisher's Summary

Even four years after the sudden death of his wife, best selling novelist Mike Noonan can't stop grieving, nor can he return to his writing. Now his nights are plagued by vivid nightmares of the house by the lake. Despite these dreams, or perhaps because of them, he decides to return to Sara Laughs, the Noonans' isolated summer home. In his beloved Yankee town, he finds himself falling in love with a widowed young mother, who struggles to keep custody of her 3-year-old daughter. He is also drawn into the mystery of Sara Laughs, now the site of ghostly visitations, ever-escalating nightmares, and the sudden recovery of his writing ability. What are the forces that have been unleashed here - and what do they want of Mike Noonan?

king reading is excellent

This is my first King audiobook and the fact is I chose the book because King was reading it. I was not disappointed. King is Mike Noonan. At times I felt as if I were in the same room having a conversation with him. Truly an amazing performace by King. As for the book it doesn't disappoint....my only reason for 4 stars is because I think King spends a little too much time in some of the dream sequences. He could have cut 2 hours off the book without ruining a thing. Amazing book with an amazing reading by King. It's worth every penny.

WOW

I loved this book. I listen to alot of audio books and this one was by far the best. There were several instances were shivers ran up my spine as I was listening to this book. On more then one occasion I would get home and sit in my car listening to this book because I didn't want to turn it off. I would give it more then 5 stars if I could.

First Audible and First King!!

Bag of Bones is my first Stephen King book, as well as my first Audible book, and I am thoroughly pleased with it. Stephen King's narration was fabulous, though clearly "unprofessional." It only took me a few minutes before the story pulled me in and I became accustomed to his narrative style. Unlike another book I've gotten, his inflection and tone were PERFECT, as you might expect from the author himself. His voice characterizations were not over-done and the music complemented the story perfectly. As for the story, it was truly great and memorable. I am not likely to ever forget this story. It is indeed a haunting, sometimes spooky, love story, and the ending is just as strong as the rest of the book. I would whole-heartedly recommend this book to anybody as a "first Audible book" and I would recommend it to anyone who is open to some spookiness in their fiction. I would recommend it to anybody except those who can't stand ANY violence in their books. There is a little, which is crucial to the story, but it is not overdone. All in all, FANTASTIC!!

Good book and a good listen

The book is better then some of the Steven King novels where you get a book inside a book, it doesn't tend to ramble about but flows around the story. I enjoyed it and will listen again. I liked having Steven King as the narrator and I think he did justice to his own book.

BEAUTIFUL STORY!! GREAT NARRATION!!

I LOVE Stephen King. This book went above and way beyond my expectations. I don't have too much to say, other than I'm a huge fan of King, and this is one of my top favorites from him. It scared the *@#! out of me! i drive for my job, out in the middle of nowhere, and in the middle of the night, to boot. i often listen to Mr.King while driving, and "give me back my dust cover!" gave me the CREEPS so bad it nearly made me quit my job. don't take this wrong, as with most of his books, this isn't really just a ghost story; and the story behind the story stole my mind and heart, and i gladly fell in love with it. this book definately gets a RARE five stars!

Classic Stephen King

I am a fan of Stephen King and this book did not disappoint! It kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out how the story would unfold. I always enjoy a book that keeps me guessing and "Bag of Bones" did just that. I also thought that Stephen did a great job on the narration! Classic Stephen King!

Excellent

I was dubious of this story from the summary but the fact that it is narrated by Steven King himself caused me to take a punt. I am glad I did as this book, in my opinion, is possibly the best book Steven King has written. Confusing and strange at first but immensely compelling and delightfully involving. Although Steven King doesn't have the voice presence of some of the more popular reading artists, the fact that it is his own work he is reading adds to the overall effect and makes this one of the most enjoyable audible books and stories I have listened to.
