I didn’t know much at all about the music and life of Fela Kuti, but I am filled with a greater understanding of the world, humanity, and the dynamics of power after listening to this. I’m always amazed at Jad’s (and his team) ability to tell such compelling stories and loved hearing it in a long-form audiobook style. Their abilities to tell the story in the way that they do gave respectful considerations to a complicated man and country, as well as to the people he influenced, for better or worse. I really loved this experience and find myself to be a changed person after having listened to it.
