AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From Wharton professor and author of the popular One Useful Thing Substack newsletter Ethan Mollick comes the definitive playbook for working, learning, and living in the new age of AI

Something new entered our world in November 2022—the first general purpose AI that could pass for a human and do the kinds of creative, innovative work that only humans could do previously. Wharton professor Ethan Mollick immediately understood what ChatGPT meant: after millions of years on our own, humans had developed a kind of co-intelligence that could augment, or even replace, human thinking. Through his writing, speaking, and teaching, Mollick has become one of the most prominent and provocative explainers of AI, focusing on the practical aspects of how these new tools for thought can transform our world.

In Co-Intelligence, Mollick urges us to engage with AI as co-worker, co-teacher, and coach. He assesses its profound impact on business and education, using dozens of real-time examples of AI in action. Co-Intelligence shows what it means to think and work together with smart machines, and why it's imperative that we master that skill.

Mollick challenges us to utilize AI's enormous power without losing our identity, to learn from it without being misled, and to harness its gifts to create a better human future. Wide ranging, hugely thought-provoking, optimistic, and lucid, Co-Intelligence reveals the promise and power of this new era.

Great practical advice on structuring prompts

This book was a home run in providing insight on how best to use ChatGPT and structuring prompts. Great examples.

Outstanding!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will give it a second listen, maybe even a third. From where I sit, it's an excellent over view of the current state of AI, and a compelling glimpse into the future.

Well done, Mr. Mollick!

Mollick Avoids the Hype

Been eagerly awaiting this book for some weeks. Mollick’s insight on AI and weaving it into the audiobook (with a different voice!!) is hauntingly brilliant. I will get my colleagues together and dig in together as we go over it again. I especially loved the parts that reminded me that AI is a supercharger for our own creativity not a replacement. Well done!

Encouraging and realistic

I’ve been following the author since GPT first launched and am always impressed at his honesty , creativity and insights into this brave new world. Good summary of both risks and advantages, Realistic and generally positive future projections. All with a sense of possibility and fun! Short, educational, entertaining read!

I’ll stop calling it cobotics now…. ;)

I’ve been calling this cobotics with friends and family for the last 4-5 years of AI studies… now I have to call it co-intelligence.

What a great listen set. Did it first on the commute dropping off kids and the Better Half at school/work. Second was in an Adirondack listening to the water with some cannabis.

Third was patchy recall listens on and off with Jen after she listened fully.

Fourth will be this summer during summer studies with kiddos as part of their focus on transformers.

Good stuffs Ethan!

A great introduction ….

Certainly with the time …..
a nice introduction to AI with no tech background necessary.
A nice first toe into the waters.

Accessible and easy listen

I’m not an AI scientist but became one of my workplace’s AI “experts” by accident. This is one of the most concise and accessible overviews of AI in higher education I’ve come across to date. Mollick & AI include just enough but not too much, and provide an incredible amount of food for thought.

If you are an academic wondering how to get started, or are already integrating AI tools in your curriculum and want to further refine your workflows and how you think about AI, this is a great working text.

A word about the narration—Dr. Mollick is a working professor. Knowing this going in, I was eager to hear this read in his voice, as a professor. Yes, he is not a professional voice actor, but I wasn’t interested in being entertained. I listened to this book to learn, and the narration is perfect for that.

Decent as book for AI novices

A brief and pleasant exploration of how AI is shaping the world around us, with tips and suggestions for educators, workers, and students. Best seen as a business book or read by those with little AI exposure.

It's fine to not focus as much on larger AI risk as books can't be about everything, but his reasons for this were not compelling. He said larger existential concerns are disempowering, yet also urged people to become more engaged on the less dramatic AI issues lest their future be decided for them. The same companies and issues are involved in each, so I don't know why he codes them differently.

I sympathize with the difficulties narrating an audiobook but the production would have been better with another narrator.

Good content, poor narration

Good and thoughtful content from a leader in the field, but please use a professional narrator another time - you mumble and slur way too much.
