Publisher's summary

A cryptic note leads the Blackmoore sisters to a haunted island in the Atlantic Ocean. Many have looked for the treasures reported to be buried there by pirates decades ago, but precious few treasures have been found. And certainly not the powerful energy-infused jewel the Blackmoores are looking for.

Abandoned for decades following several mysterious fatal accidents, the sisters have the island to themselves...or so they think.

Aided by a lonesome pirate ghost, they navigate a maze of tunnels dug into the rocks where they encounter ancient booby-traps, malevolent spirits, and natural disasters.

But as they start to zero in on the location of the relic, it becomes clear that they are not alone and whoever else is on the island has no intention of leaving without the relic - even if it means killing the entire Blackmoore clan.

good book

I love Leighann Dobbs books and characters but Celeste grated on my nerves in this one with her whining and poor me attitude. The story was wonderful and well written. Celeste (in this book only) was the fly in the ointment. Can't wait for the next book!

Ms. Dobbs never disappoints. Good plot, good fun, and a creative narrator make this a must listen!

Not as good as the previous books in the series

I am sorry to say that this book was a disappointment. It didn't add anything new to the series and the characters seem suddenly one dimensional. Overall it was just boring. The whole plot / mystery can be figured in the first chapter. I had been looking forward to this 8th book in the Blackmoore Sisters Mystery series, but I had a hard time finishing it. I put it down several times.

Eight is enough!

I’m glad that I read the first 5 as a box set compilation. I wish that the other 3 were so set up. (Perhaps the next 5). However, 8 is enough for me.

This story was potentially sound but, even for that s genre, it became a little too extreme! I found no enjoyment in any aspect of it.

Given that this is their 8th occasion to work together as a team, these sisters are more of a liability than an asset to each other. It is possibly quite realistic, but not in any team that I’ve ever been a part of, or led. It is actually a great story of a group of people who have no training, discipline or aptitude of working together, who feel that they know better than the qualified professionals who are with them and theoretically leading the mission.

For me, that makes a disappointing read. I shall not be looking out for further stories in this series.

repetitive story

all getting a little repetitive, but still enjoyed the story. Needs new abilities more romance and story line is predictable.

Hmmm

Usually I love Hollis reading these but with this book it seemed like she had forgotten what voices she used for which character. It was probably more noticeable to me because I have just listened to all books 1 after the other.
