Publisher's summary

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways. I didn't know he was Jax Blackwood - who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming, and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands. Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he'd be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked - spectacularly naked - in his living room.

Nothing about Jax is easy to ignore - not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we're quickly becoming each other's addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

Contains mature themes.

Narrators did a wonderful job

Both male and female narrators did a wonderful job bringing Stella and Jax to life. I enjoyed the book and felt this recording truly enhanced the story. Loved the attention to the accents.

Good story, Need better narrators

I first read this on Kindle and adored it. Figured i'd spring for the Audible credit. Female narrator wasn't the worst but come on, there are SO many better narrators than her. She didn't fit the character of Stella, nor does she have an appealing voice (I'm nasal too but I'm not a narrator). But the male narrator... pretty painful fake British accent (full on upper crust fake accent when he's supposed to have a faint one) that is stilted and overacted. Just bad. Love Jax's and Stella's story though. Just wish I'd stuck with Kindle.

good book

this one was slower than the other two. I expected more emotional tension, for him to be more broken in a dark way. it's was in line with the others. Good read. recommended series.

Weird accent

The male narrator has an odd “British” accent. It sounds like someone who is speaking English as a second language.

Good read/listen

It kept me interested and checked most of the boxes. Not riveting or all consuming for me (hence the 4), but a good one nonetheless.

Great story

I loved yet another story from Kill John. I thought male narrator was fairly weak.

IT’S A SLOW-BURNING, SIMMERING, SWEET LOVE STORY

This is not your usual rockstar romance.. it’s what happens to a damaged star on the off days of his life when he’s not on stage performing behind a tainted mask. Jax is the sexy, confident Superstar singing and playing guitar for mega band Killjohn. But off that stage he’s just John.. a lonely, lost, damaged man living in New York who once tried to end his life on his darkest of days. Then Fate throws him a loveable, kind, feisty ray of popular red-headed sunshine named Stella. She’s a normal thirty yr old woman who has no clue who he is, fights him for the last tub of chocolate mint ice cream, kisses him to distract him and runs off with her much valued prize.. unaware she’s just rocked both their lives. And that’s where Destiny hip-bumps Fate aside dusts off her hands and says “ok.. ok, now leave this one to me”.

And what follows is a slow-burn of coincidence, lowering of walls, letting in, getting to know someone deeply, exposing demons and releasing fears.. because both John and Stella have major insecurities. Their chemistry is there from the start but the hurdles are too.. so, with small steps, wise words, cherished outings and understanding hearts, these two neighbors live and thrive in their bubble, learn to trust and slowly fall in love. Until... well, until one of them takes a sledgehammer and bursts the bubble.

Worth a credit? Yes.. it was a uniquely different and refreshing side of the ‘usual’ Rockstar romances. Stella and John take it tender and slow with sex off the table for a good long while (however, this author knows how to describe a drool-worthy hero with skills for heavy petting) and, when sexcapades do eventually happen, it doesn’t drown the plot. There’s loveable secondary characters and all the preloved cast from the previous two books.. there’s struggles with mental illness/insecurities.. and there’s a wee flaw/inconsistencies or two in the storyline that got overlooked too. Nevertheless, the challenges, the fun side, the charm, the growth, the feels, the great narration and the delicious love potential kept me eager, engrossed and entertained till the very end. This story won’t be for everyone.. but it was for me.

Fantastic story, inconsistency with narrators

This is the third book in a series. I love all three books. The narration in this book is great if you didn't listen to the previous books. Characters that were British are suddenly American and vice versa. That said, it's an amazing story with great characters. I love Kristen's story telling. I love her humor, her twists and turns, and the overall character development. It was great learning Jax's story and Stella was a great match for him. I just wish the producers or whoever records these books would have consistency between narrators and previous books, etc. The female narrator describes Jax's accent as mild, yet the male narrator is full-on British. It's just inconsistent stuff like that makes it seem disjoined. Don't get me wrong, the narrators are great, but it is obvious they didn't read the other parts (at least the male didn't). Fabulous story. Not so fabulous production.

Has a more serious tone because of the subject...

I you have listened to the previous books of this series you come into this story knowing that the main male character had to overcome a very serious situation to get to where he is currently. Well most of this story revolves around that situation, its ripple effects and trying to move onward. The heroine of the story brings life, light and a sense of rightness to the male leads life, and Vice versa. The story stalls around the 70% mark. It loss momentum and the plot became predictable. The narration was fantastic as a whole.
