From blurry vision to crooked teeth, ACLs that tear at alarming rates and spines that seem to spend a lifetime falling apart, it's a curious thing that human beings have beaten the odds as a species. After all, we're the only survivors on our branch of the tree of life. Why is it that human mothers have such a life-endangering experience giving birth? And why are there entire medical specialties for teeth and feet? In this funny, wide-ranging and often surprising book, biologist Alex Bezzerides tells us just where we inherited our achy, brilliant bodies in the process of evolution.

Story
It is said that the practice of dream yoga deepens our awareness during all our experience: the dreams of the night; the dream-like experience of the day; and the bardo experiences after death. Indeed, the practice of dream yoga is a powerful tool of awakening, used for hundreds of years by the great masters of the Tibetan traditions. Unlike in the Western psychological approach to dreams, the ultimate goal of Tibetan dream yoga is the recognition of the nature of mind or enlightenment itself.

We've all seen the happiness on the face of a child while playing in the school yard. Or the blissful abandon of a golden retriever racing across a lawn. This is the joy of play. By definition, play is purposeless, all-consuming, and fun. But as Dr. Stuart Brown illustrates, play is anything but trivial. It is a biological drive as integral to our health as sleep or nutrition. We are designed by nature to flourish through play.

Story
With Dream Yoga, Andrew Holecek guided us into Tibetan Buddhism’s nocturnal path to lucid dreaming. Here, he offers in-depth instruction in the tradition’s daytime practices. “Waking experience is also a type of dream”, teaches Holecek, “and things are not as solid and real as we think. This insight is what transforms a non-lucid life into a lucid one.” For those drawn to Tibet’s profound teachings for awakening to the true nature of reality - in the day or night - this guide shows us the way.

definitely a step in the right direction for anybody looking to improve the quality of their lives. this book helped me a lot. It contains some very good exercises and I would consider this the best guide out there on lucid dreaming. it also point you in the direction towards dream yoga which you can use to enhance your technique. I own this Book in hardcover, because the illustrations are very helpful. Especially the 61 point meditation. Five stars all around.

Actual Science Marred by Pseudoscience.
I should have know after the first mention of "chakras" and "Tibetan dream yogis" that this book was going to be full of pseudoscience. Got about 4 chapters in before it became unlistenable nonsense. It's such a shame, too, because I've personally had lucid dreams, and they are a legitimate phenomenon worth studying, but the way this author digresses into overly-spiritual pseudoscience really does the field of lucid dreaming (along with it's credibility) a disservice. First few chapters have some great tips on how to achieve lucid dreams practically, but after that it becomes nonsense.

Incredibly scientific and easy to liten
I were not aware of lucid dreams until I watched a series on that and tried to find a book on the matter. I chose this one as this seems to be the most respectful one in the field and I could realized why after reading it. They’ve made several experiments in laboratory to test what induces lucid dreams, and explain us it in an extremely easy way. While I’m still not an expert, I could experience a few incredible lucid dreams myself within a few weeks since I started to read it. Totally worthwhile, I really recommend it to anyone.

Story
Lucid dreaming: it's when you suddenly realize that you are dreaming... and then sustain that wide-awake clarity while in a dream state. For millenia, it's been used by ordinary people and advanced meditators for practical insights, self-discovery, and delving into the architecture of reality itself. Here, the pioneer of scientific lucid-dream research offers two guided sessions, one to play in the daytime and one to play at night before sleep. These are the same conditoning programs used to help and train hundreds of "oneironauts" (volunteer lucid-dream subjects) at Stanford University and the Lucidity Institute.

Imagine being able to fly. Walk through walls. Shape-shift. Breathe underwater. Conjure loved ones - or total strangers - out of thin air. Imagine experiencing your nighttime dreams with the same awareness you possess right now - fully functioning memory, imagination, and self-awareness. Imagine being able to use this power to be more creative, solve problems, and discover a deep sense of well-being.

In the process, he stumbles upon the Inner Self. While lucid (consciously aware) in the dream state and able to act and interact with dream figures, objects, and settings, dream expert Robert Waggoner experienced something transformative and unexpected. He was able to interact consciously with the dream observer.
