ABSOLUTELY THE BEST AUDIOBOOK I’VE EVER LISTEN TO

This is my opinion and I’ve tried not to give any spoilers to this rollercoaster epic love story.

I have over 2000 audiobooks in my library and this book, God this book, is at the very top of them ALL.. surpassing well-loved authors, authors I’ve been following for years and authors who’ve given me many many hours of listening pleasure. But this book absolutely owned my heart and soul.. it took me on an uncharted journey.. its unpredictable drama had me needy for more more more. Its unforeseen twists sucker-punched me.. its heartbreaking revelations broke my heart.. its complex multi-layered characters had me changing allegiances over and over again. Its inevitable break-up had me convinced no amount of time, distance or saying sorry would heal the damage done to their shattered hearts.. its impressive character growth was huge. Its passion had me swooning.. its romance had me sighing while dreamily hoping it would last.. it’s scorching sex scenes had me blushing.. and its final raw heartachingly beautiful scenes had me praying that it would never end.

The outstanding dual POV sexy narration by droolworthy Christian Fox brought the well-written chapters to life, the pace of the story was perfect, the descriptive scenes enabled me to paint vivid colorful mental images and, the ‘indecent proposal’ plot blew me away as it twisted and turned into something very different, I hung onto every single word and absolutely nothing could tear me away from its emotionally charged chapters.

Worth a credit? Oh this is the easiest answer in the world to give... one million x yes.

At last a ‘strong’ heroine who is actually worth admiring!

I’m of two minds about this book. Reviewers are right to draw comparisons to Indecent Proposal, for the first half of the story it is the same. It only strikes off into new territory in the second half.

It seemed that some of the key elements in the plot were rushed while there was a lot of time spent on what I thought were picayune, and boring, details. The ‘big reveal’ about Beau’s motivation, details about what happened with Johnny and Bridgette really weren’t fleshed out. I’m usually unhappy with books that are too short but in this case I thought the second half dragged out a little long only to end abruptly without closing off several loose ends.

All that said we finally have a female who is strong, intelligent and confident and her actions demonstrate those characteristics. Unlike many books in this genre where the author and reviewers claim the heroine is strong but the opposite is true in this story Lola is actually someone to be admired.

Watching Lola take back control and teach Beau a lesson saved this story for me.

A lesson on intimacy!

I really loved this book up to the ending. Yes, I know it says that it is four books, but really, it’s a single novel that was previously released as a novel released in four sections for additional financial gain. If you had listened/bought all four separately, you would have been subject to three and a half cliffhangers. What’s a half cliffhanger? It’s when a novel abruptly ends after the resolution of the major conflict, there is no epilogue and leaves so many unanswered questions. The major conflict is between the Hero and Heroine, in this book, and I hate that as soon as they clear the air between them, the book ends. Am I the only consumer who wants to experience a few of the good times, the couple shares, after they have smoothed out their relationship? Is that really too much to ask?

This book has excellent character development. The Hero has the most growth but so does the Heroine and the Hero’s sister. This book paints a clear picture of “intimacy” , not sex but the actual spiritual connection between two people; it was beautiful.

Since all four sections were included in this selection, I felt it was a good value and had no problem surrendering one of my precious credits, to get it. Had it been separated into separate purchases, like it was originally released, I would have felt that the cost of four credits would not have been a sound financial investment.

What would you do for a million dollars?

When I first began this audio, it reminded me of the Robert Redford, Demi Moore, and Woody Harrison movie "Indecent Proposal by Jack Engelhard" until I realized that the characters and events weren't the same or in the same situation.
Lola (aka Melody) Winters is stuck in a routine life. When Beau Olivier offers her 1 million dollars from sun set to sun rise, Lola feels both wanted and cheapened to the offer Beau makes. Lola is smart and strives to understand the hidden agenda of the people surrounding her and who has her best interests at heart.

The internal conversations and questions Lola asks herself breaks my heart and makes me want to reach out and hug her, as she struggles to find herself with no one to rely on. Every time I thought - ha! that's it, there's an unexpected twist making you reconsider the next chapter and how it will go. The character building in this story made you love and hate characters, then second guess your decision which I found really clever and sneaky - I LOVED IT!

The raw emotional vulnerability in the main characters is what really got me. Right down to the last pages. Lets face it, if someone breaks your heart, the word "sorry" means nothing unless they understand the journey.

Whatever Lola wants ... 4 1/2 stars worth.

This is the complete series (4 books) of the Explicitly Yours series, telling the story of Beau Oliver and Lola (Melody) Winters.
There is only one narrator for the entire series; only one was needed. Christian Fox is the complete package when it comes to telling a story with both male and female voices. He reads just the right amount of joy, anger, fear, anxiety, despair, hurt, sex and passion into all the roles. There were times I was sure there had to be another reader in the booth with him when the recording was made. He is just that good and I hope the romance writers community use him more and more.
The story follows Lola and Johnny who have been in a committed relationship for over 5 years. They worked at a once trendy bar; Johnny ran the bar or the absent owner and Lola was a server. All their friends were married, some had children. Johnny didn't take their relationship any further because they were living paycheck to paycheck, despite Lola saying she didn't want or need a big wedding. Johnny wanted to give her more.
Enter Beau one evening, making an unusual offer to give them $500,000, enough to buy the bar. There was just one caveat.
I thought of the Robert Redford movie, Indecent Proposal and the offer of money for "one night" with Lola. While the story starts there it quickly diverges and blooms into a rich story of loss, loneliness, right and wrong decisions, mistakes of the young, work addiction, revenge, regret, and love. Beau and Lola ignite the pages with passion, obsession and need.
This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Wow

Read this book in a collection of the series.
This book had me hooked from the beginning and had me wishing for more at the end.
They both learnt about themselves through the love they had for each other. Some tough lessons and lots of loving. As I knew the book was nearing the end I just was hoping it never ended.
Would of loved to of have an epilogue.
Narration was awesome too.
