Gory!!

I don't mind the gore! I knew this was horrorish when diving in. I love me a good freaky book. I really like the plot of this one and the development. There was a few phrases that made me roll my eyes, like I'm going to "mash you up". Mash you up was said a lot. I listen to books written by authors all around the world so I know some phrases are popular where others aren't. So the storyline was decent. I finished it in only a day so I must have enjoyed it!

The narration wasn't my favorite. I would have preferred if the narrator didn't alter his voice for various characters. Some of them sounded plain awful. However, when he just read the story it was fine and didn't interfere with my enjoyment. If I'm stopping and paying specific attention to the narration, it's either out of this world or it needs work. This one needs work. However, not enough to make me avoid the narrator in the future but I don't believe I'll be seeking him out either.

Quite the ride

I listened straight through. Just a night of sleep I was happy to delay. I tried to turn it off and hit the hay but it was no use, I had to know. As with any review I write I am careful to omit spoilers. If you like this author, then the book is what you would expect. It is, at the time of this review, totally stand alone.
I would say it compares to his novel "Housemates" in terms of level of violence, suspense, twists, and an ending that wraps all the main elements presented in the plot. The epilogue was a tad on the "could be a second part..." though, I suppose it was sufficient to give the reader a chance to be a bit of a detective. I will likely listen again and pay better attention to certain comments and play that role. Mr. Wright is good at making a reader (or listener) think.
Narrator was very good, one voice reminded me of the voice of the actor who played Hagrid in Harry Potter movies. He had unique voices for all the characters except maybe the girls but for a male, it was still very good. Great pace and enthusiasm.
Overall, I was happy and I hope this review helps. I did pay for this and only want to help fellow buyers in making choosing a book a tad easier.

Creepy story

This was a good listen. The narrator did a good job with different character voices and made them come to life. This is a story of retribution/revenge, depending on how you look at it. It was interesting to see how it played out. I love Iain Rob Wright’s book and will recommend them anyone who likes a good thriller or horror read.

Wow!

This story a was amazing. It was scary and tense. A young woman accidentally finds herself trapped in the middle of a revenge plot. The characters are so realistic you can almost see them. The narrator really brings them to life. You won't want to miss this one.

well-narrated story

The story was good, though it got somewhat predictable as it went on. What saved it from being a 3-star book was it was well told and even better narrated. Even though I saw a few of the plot twists coming, the action sequences were excitingly paced and the characters rich, which made it an enjoyable listen.

Awesome book.

I didn't have high hopes because of negative reviews I read. I'm glad I ignored those reviews. I normally listen to sci-fi and sprinkle in a bit of horror and fantasy. I'll be checking out more of Iain's books in the future. Narration was excellent. Aubrey has no problem with distinguishing various characters from each other, throws in a variety of accents, dialects, as well as having a good tone to help the listener feel the various scenarios.

Awesome Horror

Justice. It’s an important theme of this book.

I didn’t know what to think when it first started, but once things started to take off, I couldn’t stop listening. I binged the entire audiobook in one setting. Cheryl is the new girl at the office. She wants to fit in, but it seems as if no matter how hard she tries, she doesn’t connect with her coworkers. When a “company outing” announces everyone’s name but hers, she’s off put. Thanks to a mixup, she ends up going, and wishes more than anything that she hadn’t.

This is a suspenseful read plotwise and characterwise. When the story begins, we don’t know much about any of the characters, but as the story trudges along, we’re given the backstory to each and why they’ve landed themselves in the escape room. Everyone has secrets, each secret worse than the last.

There’s plenty of torture and gore, the perfect dash of horror to compliment the suspense.

Aubrey Parsons’ narration was perfect, bringing the characters to life. He had a unique voice for each male character which I found especially interesting.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Another brilliant read in one sitting!

At the time of writing this, it's 03:20AM. I've only just finished it. When I pressed play at just before 9PM last night, I had a feeling I wouldn't be turning it off until it did automatically at the end, and boy was I right! But I certainly wasn't expecting what I got. I wondered how Iain would work this, but what I got was the brilliant bloody, violent, sexual horror Iain is very good at writing. I'm so glad he's given us contact info at the end of this, because I fully intend to use it. I've read Sam, and ASBO by Iain as well, just as good as this. If you're looking for bloody, violent horror, and you haven't read any of Iain's books yet, do so, you won't regret it. I certainly didn't! The ending made me gasp out loud. Took me a second to get it, but when I did, well, let's just say I thought, uh oh! Really good narrator as wel, first time I've heard him. Now, I'm going to try and get some sleep! Morning everyone! :)

Would probably make a decent film

It's a very, very by the numbers Saw clone. Although there's the odd twist that I didn't see coming. This would probably make a decent film. Even at less than 7 hours the book does outstay its welcome a little.

I didn't really care very much about any of the characters accept Monty maybe.

The narration just isn't quite right, the guy who reads it does a good enough job of some of the characters but is completely out of character with others.

If you like horror and Saw and you have a spare credit this might just be for you.

Grippingly Good

Oh this will make you think twice about entering an escape room, and who you go in with.....
Brilliantly read and written.
Iain Rob Wright has written yet another gripping novel. Plenty of twists and guessing going on. Hard to say much about it, without giving away stuff, so I won’t. I really enjoyed this, on par with his other works, so give it a listen. I highly recommend.

Loved this book. A captivating story of intrigue and survival throughout the most difficult situation. Enjoyed the narrating by Aubrey Parsons who knows how to bring the story to life.
Can't wait to read more of Iain Wright.
