Story
The plane is jam-packed. Every seat is taken. So of course the flight is delayed! Flight attendant Allegra Patel likes her job—she’s generally happy with her life, even if she can’t figure out why she hooks up with a man she barely speaks to—but today is her twenty-eighth birthday. She can think of plenty of things she’d rather be doing than placating a bunch of grumpy passengers.

Story
Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

Story
For the last 100,000 years, we Sapiens have accumulated enormous power. But despite all our discoveries, inventions, and conquests, we now find ourselves in an existential crisis. The world is on the verge of ecological collapse. Misinformation abounds. And we are rushing headlong into the age of AI—a new information network that threatens to annihilate us. For all that we have accomplished, why are we so self-destructive? Nexus looks through the long lens of human history to consider how the flow of information has shaped us, and our world.

I love these episodes!
I always love to hear what others are reading/listening to. This episode was the books that got us hooked on audiobooks. Mine was The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I wanted to read this book so bad but just couldn't get into it. So I thought, i wonder how it would be on audio? I signed up for Audible, got my two free books (it was 2 back then) and have been listening ever since. That was 8-07-12. My 7th anniversary with Audible was yesterday! I love Audible and audiobooks. They've got me through some difficult times.

Something Different
Story: 2-Stars
************
If you have followed the show from the beginning, you will notice that a large majority of the titles discussed have been covered previously. New perspectives on prior titles, in the absence of 'new news', would have been sufficient, though even the background anecdotes from the individual hosts are, in some instances, the same. If this episode is the first you have heard in the series, then this will not be an issue.
Performance: 4-Stars
*******************
Technically, this is a substantial departure from previous episodes. The show is an audio recording of a Facebook Live broadcast in front of a live audience of Audible employees. While there are small details specific to the video format (I can't see you waving at the camera) that break the immersion possible in the usual 'made for audio' production, for the most part it just works. The live Q&A between the editors and Facebook Live viewers was a particularly nice addition.
