Worth a credit? 100% yes.. sharp cutting banter, emotional turmoil, a possessive anti-hero King who is ALL alpha in and out of the bedroom, a flawed yet strong heroine who becomes a Queen, drama, danger, damaged backstories, suspense, secrets, dramatic revelations, detonation level chemistry, hot sizzling sex and a slow realization they were always meant to be together. Chapter after chapter the toxic and tension grew and Connor and MacKenzie expertly brought it to life along with the heat, the spice and all things nice and together they created a five star audiobook. (This could be a standalone but their breadcrumbs weaved back to Nate and Gwen’s story - book 1).

Deliciously scorching hot enemies to lovers!

Empire of Lust was just one of those books that immediately grabbed my attention from chapter 1. I knew I was in for a deliciously intense story. Rina definitely did not disappoint! The story of Kingsley (King) and Aspen was one of pure enemies to lovers. Rivals, nonstop push and pull of love, hate, and lust. It move me emotionally, these two characters and their journey. Rina created such an amazing complex, dirty, raw, sexy, lustful, sinful story. Man, does Rina know how to write an amazingly intense and very dark enemies to lovers romance.
King and Aspen first meet when they were teens. After that one night affair, Aspen thought she lost their baby at birth. All the while Kingsley was raising their daughter, but did not know until 20 years later Aspen, who he hated, (was rivals with and was a coworker), was his daughter’s mother. Aspen wants nothing more but to be in her daughters life. Kingsley, who she calls the devil, is a ruthless bastard. Feared by all. Kingsley is a character I just always fall for! One you just love to hate. Pure domineering Alpha-Hole… But his love for his daughter was just so pure. His devotion to her was un wavering. Aspen and Kingsley’s absolute hate/lust they have for each other makes for such explosive and lustful encounters. Aspen is the only person ever to dare to stand up to Kingsley. While the story has so many scorching red hot scenes, I was taken aback by the emotions I felt. The intense pain from both. I loved the way their story evolved. You get snippets of each others past, to get the complete story from both POV’s.
Mackenzie Cartwright and Connor Crais narrate this deliciously dark and twisted story. Mackenzie was just fantastic as Aspen. She portrayed her tough as steel persona she gave to everyone, but also all that inner dialogue of the hurt, confused, and broken woman she was inside. Her story made me cry. Such hurt she carried for so many years. Connor.. well this is the exact type of character I love to hear him play. He delivers all of Kingsley’s very dark, cocky, obsessive and domineering personalities so well. A complete a$$hole,but also sweet, dominant and hot.
So much laughter on my end from both of these characters. Their banter was was hilarious at times. I enjoyed every “earbud melting”second of this book. Nonstop, action, twists and turns. The amazing secrets that were revealed were astounding, but of course we get the HEA Kingsley and Aspen deserve.

A Satisfying Read

The voice actor for Kingsley was so good! I knew their story was going to be fire after reading Empire of Sin. Even though I felt like the author never stepped foot in NYC lol I think this is my favorite in the entire series. Love more adult books like this.

Empire of Lust is an emotional rollercoaster ride, with crazy twists that Rina is a master at, and a story that will have you glued to the pages!

Kingsley and Aspen are amazing together even though they start as enemies. The chemistry and passion between them, ugh, so freaking HOT!

This book will have you all in your emotions but its so worth it!

Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright brought these characters to life perfectly, and the way you could feel all the emotions from their voices blew me away!!

Empire of Lust is a must read/listen!!!!
