In the aftermath of a bioengineered plague that wiped out all life on Earth, Jupiter's Europa colony has become the last bastion of human civilization, and it's Lt. Now, the more threads he pulls, the more he discovers of a web of conspiracies, horrifying medical experiments, and a hidden threat that would see his crew marooned on the asteroid.
Meanwhile, back on Europa, Braeder's second-in-command, Rani Singh, stumbles across an alien artifact buried in the ice sheets. An extraterrestrial intelligence lurks inside, and with the colony's power failing, Singh frantically searches for a way to communicate with the otherworldly object. However, the artifact seems to have an agenda of its own, and it's impossible to know if its intentions are friendly . . . or deadly.
