A deep dive into Quinn

Book Six in the series doesn't disappoint. Liam searches for the newborn nephew he left with his brother's in-laws shortly after the EMP strike three months earlier. With the loss of Noah and the murder of her mother, Quinn's rage at all that has happened reaches a boiling point. She sets out to right some of the wrongs others have made against those she loves. The ending segues nicely into the next and last book in the series. Kyla Stone has become one of my favorite authors and I will be waiting patiently for Book Seven!

This series only gets better and better

This series is definitely one of my favorites, and as I mentioned in the previous books' review: I am not much for a really long series, but I cannot get enough of this one.

The relationships are churning and evolving with the previous and newest dangers that are lurking. There isn't a dull moment with everything that these characters have to face. Although there are similarities to the current pandemic that we face: I wouldn't want to trade places with them. Let my pandemic be dull and muted, and my books be action packed and gut wrenching.

This newest installment pulls back the blinds on just exactly how dangerous things can get for the folk at Falls Creek!

Fall Creek In More Danger Than Ever

The penultimate book of the ‘Edge of Collapse’ series sees Liam searching for his infant nephew, Hannah and Liam coming close to admitting their feelings to one other, Quinn continuing to NOT deal with her trauma and Milo saving the day. There’s still plenty of action and suspense to be had. Kyla Stone has set up what should be a humdinger of a finale in the next book for our favorite Fall Creek characters.

The book begins with Liam being his action-hero-y best. The reader learns that the government is losing control in Illinois and the danger is headed east. Meanwhile, enemies closer to home are also wreaking havoc all around Fall Creek. Quinn, in an effort to single-handedly enact vengeance on former militia leader Sutter, finds herself over her head with a group of nihilists bent on destroying everything they encounter. As if that weren’t enough, a force connected to Rosamond and Sutter is also conspiring to bring down the small Michigan town. Will any of these bad actors finally receive their much deserved comeuppance?

Stacey Glemboski, one of my favoirite post-apoc narrators, delivers another great performance for this series. She imbues the book with emotion, without being over-dramatic. She's truly the perfect match for Stone's writing.

This review copy audiobook was given to me at my request and this is my voluntary opinion.

Highly recommended.

Kyla Stone does it again!

Edge of Survival, book 6 in her Edge of Collapse series is another masterpiece of tension from Ms. Stone. This entry into Stone’s post-apocalyptic world is a worthy addition to the series. Here she changes focus and follows Quinn, the angry, rebellious teenager as she follows her own path trying to find herself and gain revenge against a hated enemy. All our usual cast is present but Stone gives the reader a refreshing change by backing away from the previous main characters and allowing Quinn to be in the spotlight. Fans of the series will not be disappointed.

another great addition

I enjoyed listening to Quinn's Journey as she struggled with sadness, turmoil and grief. The author brings her and the other characters to life with an elegance of words. The narrator does an excellent job. Highly recommend. Can't wait till the next book.

Another great book...

I’m torn between excitement for the next installment, and sadness that the story is coming to an end. I’ve really grown to love these characters. Kyla is amazing at building characters and stories that you become completely attached to. The narrator is excellent, as always. I highly recommend this book, and all of her other series as well.

A story of revenge!

EXCELLENT!!! My only regret is not reading the first 5 books prior to this one. But with that said, book 6 is a great stand alone book. It does take a little bit of imagination to fill in some of the backstory. But for the most part very well throughout and an excellent performance by reader. Edge of Survival has everything you wish to see in a post apocalyptic EMP story. Fear, hate, chaos, and of course a powerful moment of community trying to rebuild what was lost.
this story hits home very well for me because I live in northern Indiana, so I am familiar with the the area between Illinois and southern Michigan. so it was fun to her names or rivers and roads I know well.
Excellent, Excellent job Kayla. I look forward to completing the rest of the series.

Quinn!

The saga continues as Liam decides that he must try to find his nephew, L.J. When he left him with his brother's in-laws, he thought they would be safe. However, he soon finds out that the supposed safety of the FEMA camp is anything but safe.

Hannah and Milo are trying to come to terms with Noah's death while Hannah tries to help her town of Fall Creek do more than just survive. Just when it seems like things are getting easier, a new threat rears its head.

But, most of the book is devoted to one of my favorite characters in this series and in this book. Quinn is broken after Noah's betrayal and death and she is determined to exact her revenge against the man responsible, Mattias Sutter. But, her impetuous anger might mean her death as well as bring harm to those who care about her.

Ghost is at his best, protecting Milo and Quinn from a pack of dogs gone feral. I love the way that the author has brought out things that most post-apoc books never mention, like what happens to pets when their owners die. Also, she always has a ton of prepper/survival tips in the books and I always learn a lot.

Ms. Stone has created a wonderful, well-developed cast of characters that have come to feel like friends and family. This book is full of action, emotion, love and plenty of tension.

The narrator is perfect for this series and her performance adds a lot to my enjoyment of the book. I can't wait to read the conclusion of this series because I'm sure it will be AMAZING!!!
