Publisher's summary

Amid chaos, tyranny rises. Freedom demands a price....

As the United States unravels, the town of Fall Creek, Michigan struggles to survive. Hannah and Liam have endured the brutal winter and ruthless adversaries, but the threat has never been greater.

Enemies from within have wrested control of the town — including what little remains of the food. Isolated, overpowered, and on the verge of starvation, the townspeople are faced with a desperate choice.

To be free, Fall Creek may have to sacrifice more than they ever thought possible.

When the country goes dark, ordinary people find themselves facing the end of the world as they know it. As society collapses before their eyes, they'll have to risk everything to protect their home and the people they love.

From USA Today best-selling Author Kyla Stone comes the fifth installment in the Edge of Collapse series. Featuring flawed, complex characters and fast-paced action adventure, this survival thriller is perfect for fans of Franklin Horton, Tom Abrahams, and Jack Hunt.

Rated PG-13 for mild language and moderate violence.

whoa!

this whole series is amazing. I bought 1 book and bought the rest shortly after. i cannot wait till the next book. Only knock i had.. was very small... very..... very....small. a glock 19 holds 15+1... HOWEVER... IT CAN TAKE G17 MAGS.. which hold 17+1. Spec op guys would want a flush fitting mag on their service pistol and maybe carry a 17 mag as back up. lol but the story and narrator are an awesome combination.. book was amazing 👏

not worth 8 credits to find out how it ends

I love a good series and was excited when I saw it was 4 books ready. its a good story but the author is dragging it out too long and really not getting anywhere. five books in and still don't know how or why it happened. then she just announced that it will be 2 more books after this . WHY . I will not finish this series TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT. she could have some this story up in 3 books. will be returning this one. NEXT

As continue through this book series I find myself more and more emotionally invested in the characters. Whether that be the desire for them to get their due vengeance or join them in their despair for their hardships. Great story and performance,

The series provides a great mix of hero’s success and tragedy. It kept me guessing on the next twist and who would survive, betray or perish.

An incredible finish (almost)

What amazing story! As with all the best stories the characters in this series have become real to me. So it was thrilling right up to the end to see how things turn out for Hannah Liam Quinn Noah and all the folks in Falls Creek

Brutal, Yet Satisfying

As if facing the Michigan winter without electricity wasn't brutal enough, the people of Fall Creek have been robbed of their food. By their "friends" and neighbors in Winter Haven. Yeesh. I'm pretty sure I'd be loading up a snowmobile with whatever I could and traveling south. Because with friends like those in Winter Haven, I think I'd be better off in the cold unknown.

But the people in Fall Creek are made of tougher stuff than I am, and they're putting their tenacious qualities to good use in an attempt to feed themselves. They're going to overthrow the tyranny of the vigilante group that invaded just a few short weeks ago. This is going to be no small act of defiance and bravery. They're risking it all.

This may be a small battle, but it's an all-out war for their survival. As such, this addition to the series may be even more gritty, realistic, and troubling than the previous books. There are no real winners in war, but there are plenty of losers. When you're fighting people you've known your entire life, the emotional stakes are even higher. Liam, Noah, Hannah, Quinn, and the rest of the citizens of this small town are about to experience the longest, bloodiest night of their lives.

The author's note indicates that this book was to be the end of the series. That makes sense, and there is a feeling of accomplishment and a tone of moving forward with this story. But I'm so glad the author realized, as she puts it, that the characters had more they wanted to say. I totally agree and am all in for the rest. A lot of things are settled now, and you get the sense that the town of Fall Creek has a rough road ahead, but they'll be okay. Then that sense of security is pulled out from under the reader suddenly, and we realize that, yeah... the battle is over, but the war isn't won yet.

If you're new to this amazing series, you could read this as a stand-alone, and it would be enjoyable. But not nearly as good as it would be if you knew the entire back story of these people- the good, the bad, and the confused. These characters are deep and genuine, and readers who enjoy post-apocalyptic stories, action/adventure, suspense/thrillers, and even romantic suspense reads will find this series worthy of your attention. So start at the beginning with Hannah's tragic story, and settle in for great entertainment. Just beware of the dog.

Tensions are building to a peak in Fall Creek/Winter Haven. The people are marshaling together against the militia and it’s just a matter of time before things erupt!

Love you Quinn!

I’m so happy there’s another book to follow Edge of Defiance. Perfect summer read.

Favourite characters to date: Quinn and Molly, and their brusque, loving relationship. Quinn has some ways to develop yet, hence my looking forward to Book 6. Also love Bishop and Ghost. Bishop because of his steady, dependable qualities; who doesn’t love a pastor in a Hawaiian shirt with a gun? I read in a spoiler somewhere that Kyla couldn’t bear to kill off Ghost, so that allayed my fears to be able to enjoy Ghost, the fluffy killer.

Looking forward to Book 6, Thanks Kyla for your authors notes too. Happy reader!
