Wickedly sinful, the Earl of Sussex, is an unrepentant rake. The Wicked Earls' Club is the perfect place for a man of his station to indulge. That is until his parents force a match that threatens to rob him of his freedom. Unwilling to be tamed, he travels to meet his bride and demand she put a stop to this farce. Except Lady Tabitha is nothing he expected, and everything he never knew he wanted. Too bad this fiery wallflower is equally bent on ending their engagement.

Lady Tabitha, daughter of a duke, will not be betrothed to a rake no matter what her father thinks of his social connections. As long as she doesn't stare into the depths of his green eyes, or linger on the strong lines of his jaw, she should be able to scheme her way out of this engagement. That is, if her intended groom would just cooperate with her plans.

Such a good idea, poorly developed and read. Nothing can prepare you for this.... I’d avoid it and won’t look for what could have been a fun series but isn’t.

I had hoped!

This was not my favorite narrator, but a sweet love story never the less.

enjoyed the story

I was not in the mood to read a historical novel when I began this one, so I began this book telling myself to get through it. I didn’t need to get through anything. This book was a delight! I really enjoyed the story and characters. I do wish the story was better developed so the characters had more time to grow instead of, for instance, the instant turnaround of from being a rake to a happily engaged man that Luke displayed. Still, I am happy I “forced” myself to read this and look forward to other Earls in future novellas!

In addition, the narrator did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and providing distinct voices for them!

While it was a perfectly good story it was a basic harlequin type romance and would be wonderful for those who like that type of book. From the blurb description I was expecting more.

Adequate
